Last week we were dealing with air quality issues with the smoke from the Canadian wildfires. Thursday looked like this. It was really unhealthy air. We kept inside as much as possible.
Since the forecast was supposed to clear up as far as the smoke went, Mini-me and I went with my neighbor on a daytrip to Alexandria MN. aka Lake country…cabin country. I love it up there. We had a cabin there when I was a teen and my cousins still have one in lake country. It’s my happy place. Well, maybe tied with Duluth.
We went out to eat and had probably the best food I’ve have ever had at a bar/restaurant. It was so good I didn’t even remember to take a photo until it was nearly gone. We sat on the patio that overlooked the lake. It was awesome.
Next we went to a winery that had also just added a brewery. We had a flight of Minnesota wines…not a fan. But the beer was really good. I ended up buying two Growlers to bring home to share.
The flight of wine came with a complementary glass to take home. My neighbor gave me hers as well so now I have a pair.
We also stopped at a quilt shop and picked up some goodies. I bought some science themed fabric as I was planning to make some more masks for J and myself. Mini-me picked out the cat fabric. Luckily I did pick up more fabric because we just learned that the University system in MN is requiring masks for everyone.
I also grabbed the two small scrap packs I found in the clearance area. I honestly was hoping for more scraps.
Boy, I had so many drink references in this post that I could have split it into three. :)
The prep list for each kid heading to college is on my agenda for today. Figuring out what we have, what we need, and where to store everything in the meantime…besides the middle of the living room.
What are you doing today?
The meal looks so yummy! Sounds like a wonderful trip.
Your fabric is so fun! Don’t you just love that they have fabric for every sort of interest/theme?
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Wow, looking at the photo the air looks really polluted – good idea to stay inside 😀. It looks like you found a great restaurant and the beer would be perfect, maybe I could join you sometime …lol! Such great fabrics too. Wishing you a very Happy T Day and a wonderful August! Hugs, Jo x
I’m pleased I’m not the only one to eat most of the food before I remember to take a photo.
Love the name growler, they used to sell them in England called party seven, hard to open sometimes.
Gorgeous fabrics especially the science one, great choice.
Happy T Day

My daughter has moved to Minnesota and sends me photos of the sky there. Scary. And I’m afraid next year will be bad, too :( It does make for gorgeous sunsets. A patio overlooking a lake sounds like heaven. I’m glad places are beginning to reinstitute mask requirements. Delta is not a joke :(
Happy T Tuesday
We actually had smoky skies for two days with air quality warnings- in Eastern PA! Amazing how far it all had spread. Looks like a fun outing-our son and DIL love visiting wineries and breweries. Nice when you get a glass to take home:) Good you got more fabrics for more mask making because mask wearing doesn’t seem to be ending in the near future. Enjoy what’s left of your time before schools begin again. happy T day!
We had bad air quality here, too. It smells like my chiminea is smoking every time I go outside. I loved the various drinks you shared, and would love those fries. I have NO idea what a growler is, so I looked it up. I have a similar one that I think vinegar came in. Mine was a jar with a stopper, though.
I am in awe of those science fabrics. I loved the DNA, and also the chem numbers. The cats are cute, too. You know how to pick them, dear.
I have to hurry because I am going to vote in about an hour. Thanks for sharing all those drinks and great fabric with us for T this Tuesday. I hope your air quality is better soon. And I said I was wearing a mask until the entire world was vaccinated, so I’m thrilled with mine.
Oh dear, that sky looks really deadly. How awful. (Actually even more awful for the people living near the fires)
What a shame you forgot to take a photo of your awesome food (I do that regularly, especially when the food looks so good, I can’t wait to tuck in). What exactly did you have? You didn’t say. I can see some fries and they look great, but there must have been more…
The fabrics are great! I love the science themed ones. What a find!
Happy T-Day,
Take care,
Hugs,
Lisca
We had the same smokey air too. It was something else, wasn’t it? And looks like you had a great day out. I love your science fabric. If I was still teaching I would have to go find some for a mask. I love it. Looks like you made the best of a smokey day. Hope you had a wonderful T day. And Happy August. Hugs-Erika
We had some haze and the air quality was bad, though I don’t think as bad as what you had. We were just surprised that the smoke from the fires came so far East. Glad you were able to go on an outing and having a nice patio to have lunch. Oooh, the fabrics. Himself is a chemistry professor and would love the science fabrics. Me? No surprise. I love the black cat fabric. Happy T Day
