My recently retired neighbor asked me over for an impromptu version of craft club today. Since I didn’t have a dozen other things to worry about, I remembered to bring my camera.

craft club 1There were 4 of us making cards for various occasions. Since there were fewer of us than evening craft club, we were able to spread out a lot more.

others cardsI love the clever cards with the gift if money as part of the scene. She said that she was behind with Christmas cards but figured when they saw the cash they forget all about it being late. :)

I’ll share what I made another day. The lighting was terrible by the time I thought about photographing mine here at home.

Our new neighbor mentioned a while back that she hosted a monthly craft club at her house.

I was very intrigued.

Last week she stopped by to tell me the date and time.

So last night I packed up a small plastic tote with supplies to make cards. I limited myself to paper from my scrap files.

I thought this would be a good challenge for me.

I learned that limited supplies doesn’t have to limit your creativity.

There was only one thing that I was really missing…my foam mounting tape. One of the gals I just met was gracious enough to give me a few pieces so I could complete a couple of the cards.

I’m already looking forward to next month!

craft centralFor this weeks edition of T stands for Tuesday, I just had to show you what Little J and I have done….

We’ve turned the game table into craft central for the week. We are borrowing the neighbor’s Cuttlebug and amazing amount of accessories…not even all on the table… so we definitely needed a bigger space to work.

As you can see I have a nice summer beverage in my favorite glass.  Ice, 1/3 glass orange juice then fill with club soda. My usual is club soda and 100% unsweetened cranberry juice but I ran out.

I’m going through my scrap files and embossing papers for future use as well as creating some embellishments for cards.

Little J is working on her stash of cards for the year and some goodies for her Smash book.

Little J cardsThese are a few cards she made yesterday.

With Mr. G at work and Big J at camp during the day, we crank up the Pandora radio and get our crafty groove on.  It’s nice to get that special  time with my favorite girl.

What are you doing today?

Today for Second on the 2nd I’d like to share an art journal page from 2015. I decided to re-share this page as the journaling I wrote I still think about to this day. Alternate time lines, time travel, all that mind twisting sci-fi sort of business. It really intrigues me.

Take a look…

I started this page at craft club next door. I wasn’t feeling like making cards this time. I prepped the pages with tape down the spine and a thin coat of gesso at home so I’d be ready to play. I brought my gelatos, some pens and baby wipes for my fingers. The baby wipes work really well for both clean up and to get a little moisture on your fingers so the gelato moves more freely.

The next evening I sat watching TV with the unfinished page on my lap. Something came up about pondering and questioning…or perhaps something else triggered that in my mind. I just started free writing my thoughts. I have always been intrigued with the idea of time travel and parallel universe theories. What if there were an alternate timeline some how…some way?

If you could take a peek at your life in that time line the branched from a choice you made…would you look? Or would you be afraid to look?

Thanks for stopping by for Second on the 2nd.

Just a quick post with my latest art journal page. I’ve got some neck/shoulder issues going on so sitting at the computer or sitting in general too long is very painful…so bear with me.

I was inspired by the new theme of Out and About over at Art Journal Journey this morning. I hadn’t even intended on doing anything creative today. Once I saw my neat as a pin work space I knew I just had to make a mess. :)

I didn’t have a plan as usual. I just knew I wanted to make a loose leaf page. It all started to fall into place for me as I added more media. The stacked paper and button flowers were not at all what I was going to use but my drawn and painted one just didn’t look like I wanted. Now I glad it didn’t. I like the whimsical touch these add. Since they seemed a bit oversized the words I found were perfect.

I made a bunch of paper pieced embellishments at craft club on Saturday evening. It’s a fun get together where we all bring our own thing to do and get to craft with friends. Now I have a stash for later projects.

Linking up with Art Journal Journey today.

Welcome to T stands for Tuesday…grab a cup and stay a while.

Last week I had a scheduled post as the boy and I were on a college visit. It was a dreary day but we enjoyed our time on campus very much.

As we were eating lunch in the dining hall, J said “I could see myself going here.” That’s good sign. This of course was just the first of several visits to different colleges that we plan to see. It’s a tiny very rural college, in fact they have a horse barn so students can stable their horse if they like. I can’t even make that up! It feels as if you are driving to the middle of nowhere. This thought had me giggling when we opened the info packet. The slogan on their brochure was “Welcome to the middle of somewhere”. Very clever!!

The other thing I mentioned in last weeks post was that I was getting a new washing machine…here it is! I’m super happy with it so far. I’ve been working at rearranging and purging a bit in my laundry room/craft room first in preparation and now after the fact.

Here’s a work in progress shot. So much stuff and so little space! Time to make some difficult decisions.

Two bags of books and a box of misc was easier than I thought to get rid of. I also threw away half a bag of random bits and pieces that weren’t worth donating and brought a small stack of papers and supplies to my crafty neighbor to share with her extended craft circle.

Ah yes…looking better! But now we just learned that my in-laws want to give us their treadmill….that means my sew table will have to be taken down and all my sewing supplies will need to find a new home…somewhere. It seems that my quest of organization and pairing down has only just begun.

I have done some crafting and a bit of art journaling. My latest journal page is in the previous post. I’ll share my crafty bits I made at craft club in another post.

That’s it for now. I have some errands to run today including a trip to Goodwill with my donations.

What are you doing today?

I feel like I’m always behind in posting lately. Not sure why that is but it happens all too often in my opinion.

Last time at craft club,  I was trying to replicate this card that I had found many years ago in my dad’s room at the nursing home. It was such a sweet card with a clever design. I knew one day I wanted to try it for myself.

I decided to use a pack of cards from Michael’s that were color-coordinated as my base.

Of course this is just a start.

I’ve also started work on a commission. I’m making a scrapbook album from a children’s board book.

I started by ripping the printed images off all the pages.

So far I’ve only gotten the outside background papers in place. I realize that I can’t force it…either I’m feeling creative or I’m not. Evidently I’m not feeling scrapbooky right now. :)

Mini-me and I were out of town this past weekend for our annual mother daughter retreat. More on that tomorrow.
