I can’t stop sewing. I know I go in jags like this. Tissue cases and coffee sleeves are piling up. My coffee sleeves use old jeans on the backside. I throw them in the washing machine to make them fray in the most wonderful way.

I did take enough time away from the sewing machine to make a new journal. I used cereal, cracker and pasta boxes for the interior pages.

It has taken me quite some time to bring myself to cut into these beautifully stitched linens even though they were all either stained, ripped or tattered in some way. When I finally decided what they could become, I held my breath and took the first slice.

The process was very similar to the first time I ripped into a book or tore a photograph. Once you get the first one over with…the next come easier.

Now I have a few beautiful tissue cases all ready to go for gifts or my etsy store.

Of course, I still love patchwork…  I think I could stitch patchwork all day and never get sick of it…as long as there is no pattern I have to follow. I hate patterns. Saying that makes me wonder why I bought a pattern for a shirt the other day. Yeah, I know…what was I thinking?
I blame Pinterest. I saw this really cool make-over of a regular t-shirt into something stylish and girlie. We’ll see if I follow through on that one. Wish me luck!

Thanks for joining me for another edition of T stands for Tuesday brought to us by Elizabeth at Altered book lover.

Today is my typical kind of Tuesday…busy, busy, busy. I always make time for a good breakfast though. Poached egg on toast is my favorite. With coffee, of course.

Today though I have a bit of a different schedule. I have my job orientation! I’m very excited to be starting this new phase of my life.

Over the past week I’ve been very domestic. I cooked a pie pumpkin that yielded 7 cups of pumpkin puree. I’ve made 2 pies, 2 large loaves of pumpkin bread and a batch of pumpkin chia pudding.

I’ve also been sewing quite a bit. I’ve been upcycling some stained or torn vintage linens. As well as using up scraps for additional projects. More on all that in a later post.

Miss Gracie has been keeping me company, that is when she isn’t busy watching for critters out the window.

I’m off to start my day now but I’ll be back later to visit all my blogging friends.

What are you doing today?

the wallI can’t begin to tell you how annoyed I have been with myself for the past week or so. I misplaced my kira-kira journal.  Since I haven’t started a new one yet after finishing my cursed journal, it was my only journal space.  Yesterday, I stumbled upon it. I sat down with no idea in mind… just started with blue hues.

A week or so ago I picked up a bunch of rubber stamps at Goodwill…one of them was a brick pattern. I stamped the bricks all over the page for texture. Then I was feeling I needed to use pink. As soon as I spritzed the pink along the top to make it run, I thought of Pink Floyd: The Wall.  There was no need to go any further. I just needed to write the words.

red green teaSo glad you stopped by to join me for T stands for Tuesday.

Now that the weather has turned, I’ve been consuming a lot of tea once my coffee is gone each morning.

I think I spent a bit too much time in the cold garage painting my Pumpkin Minions…I definitely picked up some sort of bug.  Little J is home sick today with me. I guess I shared…wasn’t that nice of me?

Did you notice  the shape in the steam?

Look closely…

heart tea

Did you see the heart?

I thought that was super cool…or maybe I should say hot. *grin*

It’s going to be a really low key day around here.

What are doing today?

pumpkin minionsWe decided to go a little different route with our pumpkins this year. They make me chuckle every time I look at them. They were so much fun to make!!

I spray painted the pumpkin yellow then used acrylic paints to create the denim overalls. The goggle rim is a canning lid. I cut out a circle of card stock then painted an eyeball on each. The canning lid and card stock are hot glued to the pumpkin. The hair is black pipe cleaner that I stuck into holes created by poking a nail into the top of the pumpkin.

Not too long after taking the photo I had to rush my minions into the garage since there was sleet falling on them. I put forth much effort to let some half frozen precipitation ruin them when the paint is is hardly dry!!

dream bigI’ve reached the end of my cursed journal.   This is on the very end of the book.

I realized that I used this same sentiment earlier in the journal but it seems to be one that comes to mind a lot for me.

We must dream big or we will never reach for something just beyond our fingertips.

cursed journalI think I’m going to leave the outside covers of the book as is at least for now.  They are a nice shade of teal with a geometric pattern that is pleasing to the eye.

I always love the edges of an altered book or journal. All thick and wonky from paint and glue.

After the hard start for this journal…making me feel as if it was cursed. Seriously…the first few pages of this book are awful. Luckily I skipped around so they are interspersed with pleasing pages.
