Sage and SepiaThis is the last week of Summer of Color! I can hardly believe it.

This is the color combo I’ve been voting for each week. The strange thing is now that I got it…I had trouble making it work. The photo color is a bit off for the green but my “Photoshop fu” is off this morning.

I painted the background with sage then distressed it a bit.  After adding the sepia elements, I used some white rub-ons for visual interest. The bride and groom are my maternal grandparents circa 1929.

Incidentally, this is my 1000th post! WHOA! That’s a lot of blogging. Thanks to everyone who continues to read. I love it when you leave comments to let me know that you’ve been here.

catch the wind

I’m not in love with this page. I wish I had stopped with the background and just put the words.

Oh well..it is what it is and today is a new day to try something different.

birds on a wireI know that title looks like I don’t know the difference between two and too but in this case two is the proper usage.

The challenge was to use at least two different blues in your artwork. I used way more than two.  :)

After I got all the background finished it looked like a sky to me. Since I have some fun bird on a wire washi tape I painted in some telephone poles so they’d have somewhere to perch. The plane was an afterthought but I think it was needed to give some depth to the page.

I imagine myself laying on the ground, listening to the birds in between planes coming in for a landing at the nearby airport.

flyingI’m not starting something new with this, as much fun as it could be, but I did want to share something from last Tuesday.

While Big J and I were at the orthodontist, Mr. G took Little J for a sight seeing flight. Little did he know that the pilot would hand over control to our 10 year old.airstrip That’s my baby girl in the pilot seat, flying a plane!! Yikes! She couldn’t even see over the dash. What an awesome experience for her. I’m just glad that I wasn’t given anytime to think or worry about their adventure. I was busy with the boy, otherwise I’d have been a nervous wreck!

cherries red and yellow red and yellow quote

Time is flying!! It’s week 5 of Summer of Color already!

These colors always make me think of feed-sack cloth, vintage aprons and kitschy kitchens.

So what else could I do but an ode to a simpler time.

Not wanted to waste the extra paint I scraped it on another book page. After finishing the cherries page I love the look of the pages so much I decided to dress it up a bit .

It’s a two for one this week.

coasters

Another day, another party. It’s been a long week of getting together with friends.

Last night we went out to see our friends new house. Not wanting to come empty handed, I made them some custom coasters.

We spent Independence Day, as we have the past several years, at a friend’s house along the parade route in town. It’s always a great time.

I wanted to do a little something extra for our hostess who puts so much time and effort into making sure everyone has a good time. She’s a big fan of Rum and Coke. It ended up being a centerpiece on the buffet table.
