This journal spread was several days in the making.
I started with light colors…then went to orange and rust…then an overlay of cooler pastel colors.
I finally settled on some flowers. I had intended on having the flowers be the background color and covering the rest with another more solid color but it all went to pieces.
Oh well. Trying new things and failing is all a part of learning.
I decided that the quote Enjoy the Moment was perfect. I needed to just sit back and enjoy.
It was more about the process than the result this time for me and that’s ok.
Yesterday we got together with Mr. G’s side of the family to celebrate the Spring birthdays. We went out to eat then visited over cake and ice cream at home.
Look at this beautiful bowl I got from my in-laws. She knows my love of pottery and is always on the lookout for a new piece for me. This one is from Frog Creek Pottery. I have no affiliation but thought I should tip my hat to them anyway for such a beautiful bowl.
My BIL and his GF gave me this really cool art yarn from Italy. I’m already planning on knitting an infinity scarf with it. It should be very fun and eclectic.
Lucky girl…that’s me. :)
My art ADD has come back in full force. I have many different projects all in progress at the same time and in the same small space.
I’m reworking a canvas as another edition of my friend Sandy’s poem.
I finished a couple of crochet dishcloths this week. Neither one is perfect by an stretch of the imagination but I’m fine with that.
Journal page in progress. I’m trying to remember to leave this free of bulking embellishments as this spiral journal is filling fast and the pages will soon not turn on the tiny spiral if I keep up with the bulk.
In the past week I sold 3 pieces of terrain. I’m thrilled! It has inspired me to make more. I’ve been priming and trying out different combinations for my recycled pieces.
As well as playing around with foam and a plastic bottle. I love the challenge of making something out of nothing. I’m hoping that this will look like a crashed vessel that has weathered over time.
See what I mean…all over the place! My mind is going this way and that. So many ideas, so little time and space.
I was about to chuck this book in the trash. Every time I made a journal page in this book, it was simply awful. It seemed as if the book was stealing my mojo.
This was a last ditch effort for the book. If I wasn’t happy today…it was going away in a really permanent fashion.
I think I’ll keep it around, at least for the time being.
I don’t know if I’m at liberty to show the poem on the canvas yet….hence the partial photo with words blurred.
My friend Sandy entered a poetry contest and won! Her poem is going to be published. She asked me if I’d do an art piece with her words.
The funny thing is that I had started this canvas became “stuck” at a certain point. I felt that it needed words.
Low and behold…the words fell into my lap. After the words, I added a couple of collage pieces from an old children’s book I saved from the trash heap.
I hope she loves it as much as I do…
UPDATE: She does love it!
Here’s a photo of the whole canvas
Saturday, we had sleet…briefly…but sleet, none the less.
Yesterday, I had my plants sunning on the deck in 50°F temps.
Just take a peek at the forecast for today and tomorrow!
I had the furnace on yesterday…looks like the A/C will be running tomorrow.
Never know what you’re going to get here in good old MN.
