I’ve been making and swapping quite a few ATC’s lately and am running out of room. I came up with the idea to use a book with the pages cut in half to house the books. I doggedly cut down through the pages and then at the end discovered that I had cut at an angle so the the pages wouldn’t turn independently. I was not giving up…

I cut out the text block and made my own signatures. I prepped and painted the cover inside and out before adding the signatures which I also randomly stamped for some interest.

The pages are big enough to place ATC’s in both a portrait and landscape orientation. This was very important to me. I have another book that I store ATC’s in that I have to turn each time there is a landscape one…drives me crazy.

I’m still working on busy bags for my friend’s church. Slowly but surely I’ll get a dozen made. This one was made from another part of the denim slipcover I recently cut up. The quilt block came in a scrap bag I inherited. I decided to try out one of the “fancy” stitches on my machine to sew it on. I like the contrast of the red thread.

I had the whole day to myself!!! I caught up on a a couple shows on the Tivo while lifting weights, took a walk and played in my craftroom a bit in addition to all the regular everyday junk that had to be done. Blah!

While looking through my storage cabinet I found an altered book that had just a few pages left in it to alter. The book had some really nice drawings in it so I decided to just use watercolor crayons to embellish what was already there.

I also tried my hand at an “inchie”. That’s a one inch by one inch collage. Not very exciting but I think I’ll try a few more and see if I can get the hang of it.

While watching Robots with the kids last night, I was inspired to create this necklace from watch parts.

Apparently this plant doesn’t know what time of the year it is. This is the first blossom, of many, that has fully opened.

It gave me a good opportunity to practice some more macro shots with my camera. I love macro photography!

This plant was given by my kids school library staff last year for volunteering. Pretty simple job that gave my legs a good workout with all the squats putting the books back on the low shelves. :)

Just like last year, I’m using a natural dye process to color our eggs. I used this tutorial for the process.

The purple/blue eggs were made with red cabbage.

The reddish eggs were onion skins..both yellow and red gathered from the bottom of my onion drawer. Based on the tutorial, I expected I’d get a greenish yellow color.

I also threw a few scraps of muslin in the dye bath. The orange is really puzzling to me. One side is more orange than the other but the blue pieces are the same color on both sides. You can also see where I dripped a little blue dye on the orange. Opps!

Note to self and others: USE GLOVES!! My fingers are horribly stained.

I looked out the patio door this morning and saw this beautiful ripple pattern in the new snow. So I geared back up to traipse around the house to take photos before the kids go running through it.

Of course I had to play around with the photo too. What do you think?
