This is a Mail Order Brides themed challenge in keeping with the “Women in History” month for
The Latest Trends in Mixed Media Arts Yahoo group.

This digital piece was made in Paint Shop Pro with all of my own ephemera. The woman is my Grandma, the writing are my Grandpa’s sermon notes, the kids on horses are my dad and a cousin. The newspaper is from my mom’s side as well as the house picture which was a ad for sewing notions.

Just to be clear..Grandma WAS NOT a mailorder bride…don’t want to upset any of the realtives. :)

After nearly a week of no arts or crafts I was starting to go through withdrawals.

There has been quite a bit of chatter on the Yahoo groups I belong to about charms lately. I made these since ones today from some MahJong tiles I had laying around.
My only question is: Do I have these in the proper direction?

The next item I played around with was some more paper beads. I had used up almost all I had made before. They are so simple and very addictive to make. Now I really want to make some smaller ones. I’m thinking if I get some coffee stirring straws, they’ll be thin enough to make some small beads on.

I have also started cutting fabric for a quilt. I’ve made an all flannel quilt using this pattern but this time I am planning on doing flannel on one side and denim on the other. Today in celebration of a 16lb weight loss…I cut up 3 pairs of jeans to put to good use in the quilt!

UPDATE: 26LB WEIGHT LOSS NOW!!!

I’ve been wanting to give our bathroom a real tropical feel instead of just the typical, boring shells it is now. I’ve been looking around for just the right artwork to make that happen. Then the thought struck… Why not try and paint a tropical scene myself?!?

This is my first landscape. I’m really happy with it, now I just need a frame.

I keep using this same image over and over.
That would be the frugal girl in me. Yes, I said FRUGAL not cheap.

This one was made to fill a personal swap of 5 for 5 chunky pages.

I just realized that this is my 3rd post today! Good art day! Must be the stress…does it everytime.

I’ve made 2 sets of charms for a challenge on TheLatestTrendsinMixedMediaArts. I’m hoping I’ll be able to swap both sets. You can only have 1 entry for the vote so I’ll have to choose. I didn’t realize this when I uploaded the pix to the group…opps.

I could use some help deciding which to enter for the vote…. Dice or Bingo?

I had this idea of doing a page about me yesterday. So I took some close-up pictures of myself. I cropped and played with the colors in Paintshop Pro. I wasn’t exactly sure how the page would come together. This is the page that flowed out of me last night.

I was completely stressed about my mom being horribly ill and whether or not she’d be admitted to the hospital (thank the Lord, she was able to just go home). It’s been a stressful couple of weeks to be completely honest. I realized that I hadn’t been taking care of me…and if I didn’t start doing that, I wasn’t going to be able to care for anyone else.

Okay..I had way more fun than my kiddo on this one. He came home with an assignment to make a vocabulary word poster. The catch was you had to illustrate it in a creative way.
The all school project was based on the book:
Miss Alaineus, A Vocabulary Disaster by Debra Frasier
