I had so much fun making the first journal spread yesterday, I went back for another.WednesdayOnce again I worked in my white journal.  Boy, I just realized that I have 4 journals going at once. And I have an idea for yet another. I should probably wait on that idea at least until I fill one of the currents to capacity.Wednesday textureTissue paper was used as a start for this page as well. It had been crumpled over and over again. Lots of tiny little creases. It started out very purple…or maybe violet. The color was a little too “in your face” for my taste. I used a couple of mists around the edges to tone it down to a dull roar.. The aqua washi tape begged me to use it with the new deeper shade of purple. The black and white just helped everything else pop on the page. I have this thing about circles…I use them all the time. They just make me happy I guess.

So last evening I still hadn’t had enough creativity for the day. My sewing machine was still calling me.  I grabbed bits and pieces of fabric, paper, fiber and trims to sew together for collage cards. I didn’t give it much thought…just went for it.collage card marathon I made 21 mini collages that will eventually become greeting cards. Some will be left blank…others will have sentiments…some collages may not make the cut. Who cares…it was all scraps and bits laying around.

Our dreary day of April showers inspired me to create something full of color. At least April showers bring on the green grass, tree buds and flowers.just oneI used tissue paper from an Easter gift bag to start my background. I added spots of color with punchinella as a stencil. Scraps and bits made up the rest of the page. individualIt was great to work in a journal again. I’ve found that I have to mix things up a bit to keep the creativity flowing. I almost ended up at the sewing machine instead of doing the journal page. I guess I have to be thankful for laundry today…got me down to my artspace.

Today we have a special edition of T stands for Tuesday. Not only is it Earth Day, it is our hostesses birthday….or bEARTHday as she is fond of saying.

Happy Birthday Elizabeth!

Since it’s Earth Day, I thought I’d give you a little overview of my day and what I do to leave a little smaller footprint.reuseI make my grocery lists on junk mail envelopes if I’m bringing coupons to the store. I’ve lost enough using just a paperclip in the past. Originally when I started using envelopes I used new ones…one day while throwing out junk mail about 17 years ago it dawned on me…I should just use those. Duh!

I’ll be combining my errands today to save on gas. I have 4 places to go all around our bustling little town.

One of those stops will be Goodwill. We were fortunate enough to get a couple bags of hand-me-downs from a friend again. Just in time too since the weather is changing and both kids out grew most of their summer items. donationsAnything that is too worn, stained or holey gets torn up for rags around the house. I wash the standard cleaning job rags but the ones used for the nasty jobs…I just throw away. I figure I got one more use out of that sock with a hole so it’s all good.

In our continuing effort to shop local we signed up for a 1/2 share CSA (community supported agriculture) for the summer. We’ll also be getting an egg share from the same farmer. Soon our freezer will once again be filled with butcher wrapped cuts of meat from the  1/4 of beef for the year. Our neighbors go in on buying a whole cow so it keeps the price lower…the processor is only 20 min from here.

I’ve written several other posts over the years with tips and tricks to help leave a smaller footprint. We can all do our part…no matter how small…it all helps.

Happy Earth Day everyone!!

love canvasWe celebrated our 20th Anniversary this weekend. It was wonderful to reminisce while spending a quiet day together. With it being Easter weekend, a get-away will have to wait for a later date. That’s ok..then we get to celebrate twice!

I was totally inspired to create this canvas on Saturday morning. It all just sort of came together all at once.

Supplies:

  • 6×6 canvas
  • tissue paper
  • rubber stamps (mostly Stampin’ Up!)
  • Staz-on ink
  • Liquitex matte medium
  • Liquitex Basics–bright aqua green
  • India ink
  • scrapbook paper
  • canvas letter stickers

I’m a little late for T stands for Tuesday again. I went to set mom’s hair this morning then stopped by knitting for a bit. Those ladies are so funny sometimes! The stories they have to tell…wowsers…had me blushing this morning. HA!caribouYesterday I had mentioned that I’d been painting a lot. In fact I was almost late for my study group because I lost track of time.

heartstringsThis one I call Heartstrings. It didn’t come out exactly like I had in my head but I still really like it.  It’s on a 12×12 canvas. There are many layers and lots of texture.

ocean abstractThis is the one that had me almost running late yesterday. I hadn’t intended on an abstract landscape but that’s how it ended up. This is a 6×6 deep edge canvas. I picked up a 4 pack at Micheal’s last week. It’s a perfect size for me.

bold intentionsThis is my favorite. I call it Bold Intentions. I used a palette knife to create the red drag marks down the left.

I’m heading to lunch now with a friend so I’ll be back to catch up with my blog friends later this afternoon.

What are you doing today?

Always a great way to start out the day…paint handI’ve been very inspired lately by paint and canvas.  I have 3 canvases drying. Wow! That has never happened.  Can’t wait to show them…

I’m slow at getting my post up today for T stands for Tuesday. I decided that I really needed to get to the gym…for the first time in longer than I’d like to admit. I certainly knew it when I got there…yikes. Out of breath and out of shape.

I also stopped by for a visit with my knitting group…it’s been a while since I’ve been there as well. In fact, they had a new member. It’s always fun to meet someone new with like interests.

So yesterday I was compelled to create something for a friend. I haven’t given it to her yet but she has so much on her plate at the moment that I know she’ll never stop by here before I get it to her. 20140407_4574Here’s the finished piece…20140408_4575Thanks for stopping by today.

Just an FYI…I generally don’t answer T Tuesday comments with a personal email back but I do visit and leave comments on the blogs listed if I am able.

What are you doing today?
