T Tuesday: start of summer edition

Welcome to another edition of T stands for Tuesday hosted by my friend Elizabeth. As always I have my beverage at hand. A to-go cup? Yep…we’ve already been to the orthodontist this morning. Ah yes…the joys of summer vacation. I’m thinking we are going to get out and enjoy some sunshine today and fresh air. Maybe walk around a lake… Bike some trails…. Throw a frisbee… Not sure but we could all use some outside time.

I’ve been continuing to work on some cards.I started a painting yesterday on a canvas board. I’m out of regular canvas to this will have to do for now.It still a work in progress….

T Tuesday: rainy week edition

I come to you today with wet feet. Figuratively…thank goodness. We’ve had over 6 inches of rain in the past 72hrs and it’s still coming down….and is expected to thru Friday. Today as usual I’m making my lists. It’s yet another busy week…actually busier than normal. I’m thinking I need to redefine my normal.I did do another painting over the weekend. It’s on a 12×12 canvas. I’m thinking that I want to put a gloss or at least satin coat over the top because I liked it even more while it was still wet.So far it’s untitled. The top makes me think of sun flares and the bottom, the ocean…what’s in the middle? I’m not sure. I just loved those colors together and the bleeding effect both up and down.

Oh joy…I just looked outside and now it’s snowing.Actually much harder than this picture, now that I got it edited. Camp is not going to be fun if this keeps up.

I’m off to do errands but will be back later to visit all my T stands for Tuesday friends.

T Tuesday: canvas edition

I’m a little late for T stands for Tuesday again. I went to set mom’s hair this morning then stopped by knitting for a bit. Those ladies are so funny sometimes! The stories they have to tell…wowsers…had me blushing this morning. HA!Yesterday I had mentioned that I’d been painting a lot. In fact I was almost late for my study group because I lost track of time.

This one I call Heartstrings. It didn’t come out exactly like I had in my head but I still really like it. It’s on a 12×12 canvas. There are many layers and lots of texture.

This is the one that had me almost running late yesterday. I hadn’t intended on an abstract landscape but that’s how it ended up. This is a 6×6 deep edge canvas. I picked up a 4 pack at Micheal’s last week. It’s a perfect size for me.

This is my favorite. I call it Bold Intentions. I used a palette knife to create the red drag marks down the left.

I’m heading to lunch now with a friend so I’ll be back to catch up with my blog friends later this afternoon.

T Tuesday: mixed media edition

I’m slow at getting my post up today for T stands for Tuesday. I decided that I really needed to get to the gym…for the first time in longer than I’d like to admit. I certainly knew it when I got there…yikes. Out of breath and out of shape.

I also stopped by for a visit with my knitting group…it’s been a while since I’ve been there as well. In fact, they had a new member. It’s always fun to meet someone new with like interests.

So yesterday I was compelled to create something for a friend. I haven’t given it to her yet but she has so much on her plate at the moment that I know she’ll never stop by here before I get it to her. Here’s the finished piece…Thanks for stopping by today.

Just an FYI…I generally don’t answer T Tuesday comments with a personal email back but I do visit and leave comments on the blogs listed if I am able.

Abstract inspired by snow

I know it doesn’t look very “snowy”. The reason I say I was inspired by the snow was that this canvas had a painting that used very dark colors. I’d been leaving it for a few days trying to decide if I was done. Turns out…I wasn’t. It needed to light and bright like snow. I thought I was going to save a bit of the original inside the circle but in the end I covered the whole works. I really like it now. So glad I let myself sit and stew on the original.

So where does the snow come in??

Well, where do I start? We got over 9 inches on Thursday night into Friday. Another snow day for the kiddos. They’ll never get out of school at this rate. This storm followed one that dumped around 6 inches on Monday.

See this pile…I used it to stand on to pull snow off the roof. Little J got a real nice shot of the avalanche.

You may recall my garden box along the deck…This is the current view from the garage…. This storm created the most treacherous driving conditions that the state patrol has seen in 25 years according to news reports. I was worried about Mr. G driving but he made it safe and sound….just late.
