personalThe last page in my Watkins journal. Gathered from bits and pieces thrown in a drawer.

The photo is me from a couple years ago. It was an extra from a scrapbook page…yes, have been known to scrapbook every once in a great while.

I wrote a personal journal entry on the back of the date due slip in the pocket.

All I have left is to do some things with the outside covers of this journal. It’s been a fun experimenting journal. I’ve started using a date stamp so I can keep track of what I did and when. You always think you’ll remember but I have learned that I just don’t.

Little MeI fear my best option for digitizing the remaining 100 or so slides I have from my childhood might be this technique. Me, holding the slide up to the window and taking a photo against the bright white backdrop of our snow covered yard. I better to get to it since Spring is just around the corner….supposedly.

Then each of those photos will need to be cropped in Photoshop to a printable size. UGH!  That’s a lot of work but since I seriously can’t ever remember seeing any of these slides…ever, it will be worth the extra effort.

Yes, that little toe head is me. The slide says ’79 but I’m sure it was from a couple years before. More like Summer of ’77 if I’m correct with the location of the photo. I guess I was allergic to a hairbrush.  ;)  I’m surprised my beautician mom let me go around like that…much less get my picture taken.

I made a few more cards from some scraps and photos laying around my workspace. I just love using those scraps! It’s like a challenge to me.

I can’t remember what these flowers were…something is making me think they are an herb that flowered. Hmmm.

The green scrap is from a very pretty card I saved from the recycle bin. It matched the pink and green of a thank you card perfectly.

Isn’t it great when things like that just work out.

A tag with a little bit of ribbon looks much better when mounted on little foam squares. It gives nice dimension.

And then there’s one of my favorite pictures…

My girl sharing the heart shaped inside of a black walnut shell. Pesky squirrels left me a present in the garden but it made for a fantastic photo op.

She’s even wearing her LOVE shirt.   <3

I’m working my way through a crazy amount of vintage slides.  Ranging in age from the 1930’s to 1970’s.  20130215_1421

I have the vast majority in slide trays already. That makes it so much easier to go through and mark with a china marker which slides I want to scan.  The bummer is that my projector bulb just bit the dust…

I found one on eBay and am now waiting for delivery. I can’t tell you how fortunate I feel to have been able to find one at a reasonable price. When I pulled out that blown bulb  with a very weird connector I thought…”oh  man do I have a big job ahead of me looking at each slide individually to determine it’s value”.  Thank goodness I thought to look it up!!!

I have to mention what a treasure these slides have been so far. We started doing slide shows with the neighbors on the garage door several years ago. It was so much fun!! Ok…so we maybe we are easily entertained. But it was fun. My neighbor and I even picked up some slides from garage sales and would make up stories to go along with them as we had the slide show.  So much fun!!!  Again…easily entertained.

I can scarcely believe that I’ve written that many posts!
And even more shocking is the fact that you all are still here reading after all this time.
Especially considering that I’ve been in quite a dry spell lately.

With that said, I’d like to reward one of you for sticking with me by sending you one of my newly created scrap journals.

All you need to do is leave a comment on this post, making sure I have some way to contact you if you are the winner.
I’ll draw the winning name on November 27th.
The winner will have their choice  of cover designs.
Easy peasy, right!?!?

I’ve been working on loom knitting again. I have an order for 10 dishcloths and am expecting I’ll be getting a few more orders real soon. I decided to use some of my scraps of yarn to give some visual interest to these cloths.  Waste not, want not.

As long as I was thinking scrappy…

I put together the first in a series of journals. The cover is a print of one of my kaleidoscopes. I believe this one started as a rose.

I love the look of all the different papers. It’s up to the recipient to decide how to use them.
