I’ll be getting my package ready to mail off to Elizabeth today.

I can only show you a tiny snippet or two of  her rust and white pages until she receives them.

I used both rusted fabric

and rusted paper to create my pages.

I hope Elizabeth likes them!!

Before I let you go, I just had to share these flowers…
I picked all of them from my yard.
Did I mention that I love flowers!?!?

Since we had a totally open theme this time around for the annual abc_alterbookclub anniversary swap…I decided to use this photo of myself and my grandpa that always makes me giggle. Neither one of us looks to happy about the whole deal.

Here’s the original photo…

We both look so crabby.  I did have a cute little dress though. *grin*

Quite a while ago Elizabeth facilitated a swap between Patty and I. I was in need of a few more pages for my Quotes AB and Patty was thinking about possibly doing a chunky book.

Just look at the wonderful tip-ins that Patty created!
**I have been so neglectful in actually posting these.**
                          Sorry Patty!!!

This is a gorgeous piece. I’ve never been good with “white” but here it is done so well.
Such wonderful quotes were chosen.
“The universe sings to those who listen”
Love that…

And just take a gander at this one!!  The colors are amazing together. The texture in the photo pales in comparison to the real deal.

The quote:
“Happiness belongs to those who are easily contented.”
            ~Aristotle

Patty has included one of her little nests that I admire so much.

Patty gave me free reign to do whatever came to me at the moment for the chunky pages.
Sweet!
I’m pretty random most of the time so that suits me just fine.
Since I forgot to actually take photos before sending them off to her…she was kind enough to photograph them for me.

And if that wasn’t enough…she sent a wonderful package of “goodies” to play with. Although it wasn’t planned…when I looked through the lens of my camera…look what I saw.

A Heart!

It was a gift from the heart from Patty!
Thank you my dear.

I started this AB years ago with a few tip-ins from a swap. I love quotes… It seemed like the perfect theme. Alas, I ran out of steam on the project. It was set aside…forgotten.  Recently, I’ve had the drive to finish those UFOs (unfinished objects) sitting around basically to free up space and cross things off my on-going list.

I asked my good friend Elizabeth if she’d make a tip-in or two for me…  She came up with the idea of hosting a tip-in swap on abc_alteredbookclub. Sweet!
Just look at the end result! A completed book! Well, truthfully, there are spots for 3 more quote pages if they were glued directly down but for all intensive purposes…this is officially crossed off my list!!!!

I’ve jumped headlong into 2 new long-term swaps.

The first one I signed up for was a tip-in swap with 6 players. The same type of swap as my very first one…except that had more players.
It’s a color theme swap…obviously, my color is blue. I’m using this book that I rescued from the library’s free shelf. It’s not an old sewn binding book as is recommended but I figure since it won’t be traveling around I can fix any issues that may occur with the binding.

The second swap is actually an altered book round robin. As of yesterday there were 5 of us. It would be fun if we could get a couple more players but with this type of swap you really need to be committed since mailing entire books can get a bit expensive especially towards the end when the books are getting real thick and heavy.

Based on the sewn binding books I had on hand, I decided on the theme: There’s no place like home. The title of the book, We have always lived in a castle, helped determine the theme.  It will be really fun to see how the other players interpret the theme.

I wanted to leave the original title on the binding so I used what I call my Kelly Rae inspired background technique which basically consists of using gel medium to glue down scraps of book text onto the cover.  After it’s all dry, I paint. Sometimes more text shows through than this. I was actually going for more of that look but I got a little heavy handed with the base wash. So I went with it…

The cover isn’t exactly what I had in mind but it’s not too often I can get my vision to translate directly to the canvas.

Next I’ll work on the sign-in page. I have several ideas floating around but nothing has screamed at me as a must do yet.

Hopefully I’ll come to some decision while we are moving snow this morning. The kids got a snow day!  We got over 11 inches of snow and now there is freezing rain coming down!! What’s up with that!?!?

I have a few moments before I get on with the rest of my busy day which includes watching the little baby next door! YEAH! I love babies!

I wanted to share with you the wonderful package I got from my swap partner on Swapbot. I hadn’t been involved in a swap for several years on this site but decided it would be fun again. Boy am I glad I did!

Just look at the thoughtful package I got in the mail!  She looked at what I do and totally customized the package for me. She even saw that I love tea so she sent a couple of kinds for me to try!  Thanks Holly!!!

Isn’t it funny that Holly sent to Halle… Same name…different spelling.

It’s always nice to see that there really are a lot of wonderful people in this world…  The news can make you question…that’s why I like to live in my own little suburban bubble most of the time.

Check out what my friends are up to today…you’ll find the links on Kimmies blog.

Last night I made the covers to complete the 12 Days of Christmas swap book.  It’s bound and will be enjoyed for years to come.

I’m thinking that I’ll put it away with the Christmas stuff so each year I can take it out and reminisce.
