I got my ABC 6th Anniversary swap package in the mail yesterday and went to work on the front and back covers nearly immediately. I bound the book this morning and love how it looks.
Each summer ABC_alteredbookclub celebrates the anniversary with a collaborative project. This is my 4th year participating.
My 1st year we did an alphabet themed chunky book.
The next year was another chunky book.
Last year we did something a little different. We made circles!
This year we are doing a skinny chunky book. Sounds weird, huh?!
I’m nearly finished with the whole swap. I cut out 28 of these 3×6 inch recycled cereal boxes. Only 25 are required for the swap but I wanted to make sure I had room for mistakes.
I sprayed them with black, brown and gold paint on the printed side of the cardboard. The back is sprayed with white, brown and gold.
I decided to mix a custom color of embossing powder since plain white seemed way to stark against the dark background. I mixed mostly white with a little gold, copper, black and jasper. I really like the slightly speckled effect.
I have 7 more to complete but I ran out of the beaded trim. Either my math skills failed me at the store or I was severely cheated.
I was shocked to see I’m already at 300!
This ATC is made of items that would have been recycled anyway. My way has a little more visual appeal. I used a cereal box, a wallpaper sample and green magazine images. I decided to sew the wallpaper to the cereal box so I wouldn’t have to use glue. Of course I could have cut letters from the magazine to spell my message but a white gel pen was so much quicker.
It was a busy day so I never got around to wishing my online friends a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I also opened the final gift in the 12 days of Christmas swap. This pretty little quiltlet was from the hostess Theresa. She also included some fun fibers and a pencil to play with. My daughter has already laid claim to the stocking hat bedecked pencil.
On Day 10 I got this cute little book from Carol. Thanks so much! It will be fun to play in.
Today I got to open my gift from Elizabeth.
My kids have been guessing…they guessed a pack of gum. Not so but they were on the right track! It’s an assemblage made from an Altoid tin. Very cool I love it! Thank you!
