Good morning all! Welcome to another edition of T stands for Tuesday.

somethings missingI’ve got my beverage…how about you?  How is it that you never notice a dirty window or dusty surface until it’s displayed for anyone to see in a photo?? Early morning shots are the worst!!  Ok…moving on.

somethings missing

I think a lot of you will recognize this view out our patio door…but something’s missing?!!

Shall I refresh your memory?backyard

The playset is no more.  That era is over. Mr. G took it down yesterday.

We still need to dig out the sand box and remove the remaining wood. We’ll need to do some fill of dirt and of course some grass seed for the bare patches. The plan is to put a fire pit in that area.

I just can’t believe how much bigger the yard looks!

I once again have a long to do list today although I don’t plan to go anywhere today. I’ve been avoiding a ton of paperwork but I’m going to have to tackle it today.

I did check one thing off my list already this morning though…

vintage linen patch

Patching my favorite shorts. They are getting so worn out. I don’t dare wear them any place but at home for fear they will split open or simply fall apart. I keep stitching together the rips but this spot needed a patch. Why not something cute!?! It was a scrap of embroidered linen I had trimmed off for another project.

What are you doing today??

Good morning! I’m once again linking up with T stands for Tuesday where we grab a beverage and have a little chat hosted by Elizabeth.

I talked about my garden here at home as well as the one at my in-laws but you’ve never seen the the space at the in-laws.20150606_7893

It’s a really big garden! They downsized from the original when the critters got so bad they had to put a 5ft fence around.

20150606_7931She has a huge strawberry patch! We picked almost 4 quarts last Saturday. YUM!!  The boy snapped this photo of us covering the patch with bird netting after the harvest.  He told me he took a few photos when I asked him to put away my camera. He said he found photography relaxing. :)

After a hot day in the garden there we came home, had a late lunch and a well earned glass of wine.

Any guess on what these flowers are??

You’ll never guess…  Horseradish!! My horseradish was blooming. I cut off the tops to save the energy for the plant.

I, of course, have a few errands today. I hope to be back inside before the forecast 97°F hits this afternoon. YUCK!

What are you doing today?

Welcome to T stands for Tuesday!  (just a touch early this week)T stands for Tuesday_200Grab your cup and join me for a few updates.

Where shall I start?  I guess the garden is as good a place as any…update1 update2 update3

Everything is planted…the Alfalfa’s Secret is around some of the plants. My inlaws swore by this stuff last year and I have to admit that my tomatoes at their house were amazing! So I bought a bag of it myself this year to try here at home.  Only about half of the beans came up so I went back and planted some more seeds, soaking them this time hoping to speed the germination.

I got my advanced copy of Sew Somerset containing my article last week. You can check out my post about it. It’s so exciting to hold it in your hand vs just seeing it on the computer screen!

Yesterday morning was spent on the deck with my coffee disassembling some jeans that no longer fit anyone.

20150601_7754

I cut the legs off then open the seams and also save the back pockets. All of this will be utilized for other projects.

20150601_7755Only a little bit of waste….or maybe that should be waist. Oh so punny.

I have a few errands as usual today and of course, my Second on the 2nd post which will be following shortly.

Hello , hello…welcome to T stands for Tuesday!T stands for Tuesday_200

I’m finally back. From where you ask? Absolutely nowhere. I’ve just been caught up in the end of school year craziness.

When the kids were younger it seemed as if actual learning stopped about 3 weeks before the end of school and the rest was just filler. Now there are speeches, presentations, projects, concerts and finals.  Throw in some appointments and after school activities and driving lessons…whew!   I have a teen with a drivers permit now!!  He got it on Friday. We’ve been out practicing twice now. Last night I heard…”when can I drive again?”

Enough reasons excuses for neglecting my blog. You’re here for T stands for Tuesday. Grab your drink and sit a spell.

Currently I have half a dozen or so projects going…well truth be told if I dug all my UFO’s out there would be at least twice that number.

WIP bottlecaps

After receiving a couple more bags of bottle caps last week, I was inspired to drag out my supplies. I turned on the TV to re-watch a show I fell asleep during last weekend while wiring and beading.  Sometimes having the background noise helps me work and other times…not so much.  Yesterday was a mixed bag.

WIP painting

I’m also continuing work on this painting I started so long ago. I keep adding layers as the mood strikes. I don’t have an end vision of this piece at all…I guess I’ll just know when to stop…hopefully.

Lastly I thought I’d share a garden update.

WIP seedlings

These are the seedlings that will go in my in-laws garden likely this weekend. The tomatoes are getting quite tall.  The rest have been planted in my gardens….WIP garden

you’ll have to take my word for it of course.

WIP deckbox

We had a frost warning last night so I had to cover everything up and hope for the best.

cold

Luckily it didn’t get quite as chilly as they said but I’m still waiting until the temps get over 40°F to uncover. I don’t want to shock them.

Errands then an appointment are on the list today, along with pesky household chores. Hopefully I’ll get a bit more creating in as well.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Mi cumpleaños es el cinco de mayo. The only sentence I remember from my years of Spanish. Translation: My birthday is May 5th.

Our lovely host for T stands for Tuesday, Elizabeth, sent me a a wonderful gift last week. She’s so funny…if you click on the image you’ll see what she wrote that makes me laugh.

20150504_7696

We have a running joke about being late for each others birthdays even though they are within 2 weeks of each other.

She sent me some of her wonderful handmade paper that I absolutely love and a beautiful handmade book.  I was having issues taking these photos so I apologize for them not being the greatest.

Each page has carefully selected words and images that speak to our friendship. I’m so happy to have received such a thoughtful and heartfelt gift. Thank you dear friend!

I do know that Elizabeth is planning to share about this book later in the week and will likely have much better photos now that she has a good camera.

Thought I’d also show you my seedings…20150504_7705

again…crappy photo. My photo mojo was totally off yesterday. The whole day was a bit off to be honest. Here’s to a better day!

I plan to watch a mid-day movie from the comfort of my couch….possibly with an adult beverage…it’s my birthday I can do that.  No cleaning. I threw a roast is in the crockpot and the family can make the rest happen for supper.  A Tuesday birthday during the school year doesn’t work so well for an evening celebration. Too busy. The way I figure is I just get to celebrate longer as we have time. :)

Last week you may remember amidst celebrating our hostess Elizabeth’s birthday, I mentioned I had a busy week coming up. The reason was J and I were heading to Mother/Daughter camp for the third year in a row.

After a chilly rainy start the weather turned absolutely beautiful!! Mid 50’s and sunshine!! We were busy from dawn to dark. It was exhausting but fun. Before we even left for home I heard “next year when we come…”

We did lots of crafts….

journal and pen

journal and fiber wrapped pen with pompom

leather stamping

leather stamping…I plan to attach this to an upcoming journal

chalkboard

wooden chalkboard…I plan to do something more with this to make it a bit more pretty.

There was also a locker size magnetic white board decorated with fancy duck tape but that must have went to school already.

In addition there was horseback riding…horse barn after ride

and the highropes course that included a zipline.

I wanted to embed a video here but it’s not working out…so you’ll have to imagine J zinging along a wire over a ravine.  :)

We had a wonderful time!

This morning I sat with my coffee signing paperwork for my boy’s second day of driver’s training classroom instruction.IMG_0354

Time passes oh so quickly!!

I’ve got more paperwork to take care of today as well as a small mountain of laundry.

T stands for Tuesday_200Welcome, welcome to another edition of T stands for Tuesday.

I’m having a cup of half and half laced coffee this morning in honor of our hostess, Elizabeth. Of course, she drinks hers nearly white with cream. I just couldn’t do it.

cuppa

I’m raising my cup to her not only to say thank you for hosting our weekly blog party but in addition to say a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Ok I’m a day early but that’s better than a day late!!

Mr G and I also had a celebration over the weekend…our 21st wedding anniversary! We had a relaxing quiet weekend at home. We had sushi, got caught up on some of our shows and for a brief bit, I nearly forgot we had children…they were with my in-laws for the weekend. It was almost like we were newlyweds again.

This is a crazy busy week for me. I’m not sure how much crafting if any I’ll be able to do. You can check out a couple of my latest art journal pages here and here.

What are you doing today?

PS…don’t forget to wish Elizabeth a Happy Birthday tomorrow!
