Welcome to another edition of T stands for Tuesday hosted by my friend Elizabeth. As always I have my beverage at hand. coffee to goA to-go cup?  Yep…we’ve already been to the orthodontist this morning.  Ah yes…the joys of summer vacation.  I’m thinking we are going to get out and enjoy some sunshine today and fresh air. Maybe walk around a lake…  Bike some trails…. Throw a frisbee… Not sure but we could all use some outside time.

I’ve been continuing to work on some cards.more cardsI started a painting yesterday on a canvas board. I’m out of regular canvas to this will have to do for now.painting in progressIt still a work in progress….

It’s Tuesday again…time to have some sparkling water in my favorite glass and link up with Elizabeth for T stands for Tuesday.20140601_5021        So what I have I been up to lately?  I’ve been doing more crafting than blogging….          And more yard work than crafting. Weeding, mowing, planting and watering…  But now that we’ve had over 4 inches of rain, at least I don’t have to worry about the watering.

Now on to the random crafts…20140601_4987Here we have scarf/necklace made from my favorite tie-dye t-shirt. I finally had to give the shirt up after discovering a huge unrepairable hole.  Apparently I wasn’t ready to completely part with it…

20140601_5010I started this American Girl doll hat when Little J and I were at our camp. One of the little girls asked if she could have it when I was done. Well certainly, my dear. I used my cabbage dyed yarn and knitting loom.

Then, of course, more cards…20140601_5008 20140601_5007 20140601_5006 20140601_5005 20140601_5003I’m trying to get ahead for the Fall/Winter craft sale season.

I was going to share one more new item today but I’m thinking that it deserves it’s own post. It’s something new that I’ve never tried. I was inspired by something on YouTube. Basically to think outside the box.  That’s generally how my brain works anyway.

Stop back tomorrow and see what I’m talking about. (how’s that for a teaser)

What are you doing today??

Hello, hello! I’m feel a little thrown off this morning from the Memorial Day holiday yesterday. Today seems like Monday. Waking up late didn’t help matters any.

But today is Tuesday… so that means it’s time to join Elizabeth and Bleubeard for T stands for Tuesday.deck box gardenI brought my coffee outside with me to check on the gardens. I won’t bore you with a bunch of pictures of mostly dirt. I have 10 tomatoes planted…4 yellow pear plants and 6 Thessaloniki(Greek heirloom)plants. My beans are sprouting. The cucumbers are planted. Hopefully the leaf lettuce seeds I planted will sprout soon form the galvanized bucket in the deck box garden.

It’s misty raining so I’d like to show you my before and after on my cursed journal. After completing the journal I assumed I would leave the outside unadorned. The cover graphics and color was what made me choose this book in the first place. cursed journal beforeBut the spine left something to be desired. It kept bugging me as it sat on the bookshelf. Since my art space is currently out of commission…there wasn’t a whole lot I could do. Then my tea dyed curtain scrap came to mind. I could have the best of both worlds…pretty graphics and the ugly spine covered.cursed journal afterI decided to add the little bits of chain and charms at the last minute. charmedThey add a little movement and bling.  Now I’m very happy with the journal that caused me so much grief in the beginning.

Hello…I’m back for T stands for Tuesday. Did you miss me?20140519_4885I took last week off to attend Little J’s all-district track meet. She did awesome! First place in her school for girls 100m run and her relay team finished a good 3 seconds before anyone else in their heat. She was the anchor, so this photo appears that she is running unopposed. What a great way to finish off her elementary school years! The meet brings together all 7 elementary schools in the district at one of the high schools…too bad it wasn’t the one she’ll be attending since that would be cool at that age. 20140513_4812If you look at the way the adults at the finish line are dressed, you’ll get an idea of the temperature that day. Real feel of 39°F.

Anyway…I named this post gardening edition…so where the heck is the gardening?!?20140520_4894Here we have my tiny seedlings waiting to be strong enough to live outside. Notice the plastic barrier I had to erect around them…I’m sure you can guess who that is for.

Mr. G and I worked outside most of Sunday prepping the garden.20140518_4858He built a gate for me this year so I no longer have to climb over the fencing. 20140518_4859The beans are planted…tomato cages are ready and the flags are blowing in the breeze both for decoration and deer deterrent. 20140518_4857My deck box garden is also ready for planting…my cherry tomato plants and cucumbers will live here.

And where was Miss Gracie…20140518_4877Running from door to door begging to come out. Nope. Not going to happen. Not since she chased that squirrel up a tree. Too strong of hunting instincts for that one.

Lots of things on the list today ending with an evening choir concert, so I better get at it!

What are you doing today?

Welcome to another edition of T stands for Tuesday.camp edition

I’m back from a whirlwind weekend of fun with my favorite girl. Little J and I were on a Mother/Daughter retreat with a bunch of friends up in northern MN. Unlike last year, the weather cooperated this year and no one got sick! Hooray!

We did lots of outdoor activities such as horse back riding.trail rideLittle J conquered her fear of heights on several stations at the high ropes course.

20140503_4746In addition there were crafts…sign craft

including the leather shop…leather shop leather practice

These are just her practice pieces…she must have taken the finished product to school.

lakeWe were all surprised that the ice was out on the lake this year after the brutally cold winter we experienced. Last year, this same weekend, it was still completely covered in ice.

I’m still working thru the piles of laundry that seem to come with traveling. Hopefully I’ll get my creativity back in gear then.

What are you doing today?

rainy dayI come to you today with wet feet. Figuratively…thank goodness. We’ve had over 6 inches of rain in the past 72hrs and it’s still coming down….and is expected to thru Friday. coffee listToday as usual I’m making my lists. It’s yet another busy week…actually busier than normal. I’m thinking I need to redefine my normal.20140428_4667I did do another painting over the weekend. It’s on a 12×12 canvas. I’m thinking that I want to put a gloss or at least satin coat over the top because I liked it even more while it was still wet.20140428_4668So far it’s untitled. The top makes me think of sun flares and the bottom, the ocean…what’s in the middle? I’m not sure. I just loved those colors together and the bleeding effect both up and down.

Oh joy…I just looked outside and now it’s snowing.snowingActually much harder than this picture, now that I got it edited. Camp is not going to be fun if this keeps up.

I’m off to do errands but will be back later to visit all my T stands for Tuesday friends.

Today we have a special edition of T stands for Tuesday. Not only is it Earth Day, it is our hostesses birthday….or bEARTHday as she is fond of saying.

Happy Birthday Elizabeth!

Since it’s Earth Day, I thought I’d give you a little overview of my day and what I do to leave a little smaller footprint.reuseI make my grocery lists on junk mail envelopes if I’m bringing coupons to the store. I’ve lost enough using just a paperclip in the past. Originally when I started using envelopes I used new ones…one day while throwing out junk mail about 17 years ago it dawned on me…I should just use those. Duh!

I’ll be combining my errands today to save on gas. I have 4 places to go all around our bustling little town.

One of those stops will be Goodwill. We were fortunate enough to get a couple bags of hand-me-downs from a friend again. Just in time too since the weather is changing and both kids out grew most of their summer items. donationsAnything that is too worn, stained or holey gets torn up for rags around the house. I wash the standard cleaning job rags but the ones used for the nasty jobs…I just throw away. I figure I got one more use out of that sock with a hole so it’s all good.

In our continuing effort to shop local we signed up for a 1/2 share CSA (community supported agriculture) for the summer. We’ll also be getting an egg share from the same farmer. Soon our freezer will once again be filled with butcher wrapped cuts of meat from the  1/4 of beef for the year. Our neighbors go in on buying a whole cow so it keeps the price lower…the processor is only 20 min from here.

I’ve written several other posts over the years with tips and tricks to help leave a smaller footprint. We can all do our part…no matter how small…it all helps.

Happy Earth Day everyone!!
