Bottle cap wind chime

Last updated : February 28, 2016

I’ve been working on this project for longer than I care to admit. I found that I couldn’t work on it in the morning because I was too shaky from numerous cups of coffee to bead and bend jumprings. By afternoon, I just wasn’t interested in working on it.

As you can see I put my own spin on it. I used an old CD for the top of the wind chime. I also included beads with the bottle caps for interest. I’m so happy to have actually used a bunch of the caps I’ve collected over the years as well as all the ones friends save for me.

Now I just need to find the perfect spot for it. Mr. G and I were talking this morning about making a tiki bar on the deck or the patio. I think it would fit in quite nicely!

Here’s the original “pin” that
inspired my above creation:

Hmmm, I got to thinking…I also have a ton of wine bottles and corks….any creative ideas to use those?? Right now the bottle are lined up on top of my kitchen cabinets which looks pretty neat but unfortunately when we move I will not have any upper cabinets at all so they need to be repurposed. The corks I might just put in a decorative holder I have but if you have any creative ideas that would be appreciated too! :)

Wow Halle, you put my wind chimes to shame. I love the bottlecap and beads. I can see how it would have taken you forever to make it. I tried making one using a CD and utensils. But I could never get it to hang right. It always leaned one direction or another. I see yours doesn’t have that problem. Could it be because of the beads?

Oh my what a perfectly fabulous creation Halle!
I am a cap collector … but you have really taken these to the next level! I am in awe of all of those holes you’ve punched and have to giggle about getting shaky…I am a really cheap date when it comes to caffeine…doesn’t take much at all!

    I just Love it!
I see you having fun with a Tiki Bar … LOTS of fun ;)

Too cute and way too many jump rings! I hate jump rings or they hate me, I’m not sure which way it goes! I thought it was fun to make jewelry until I went to war with jumprings. Seriously, that is a great looking project. E is right it hangs beautifully, that isn’t that easy to do. Great job.

What a fantastic idea! Doesn’t it feel good to finish something that you were inspired to make? If only I could follow through on everything I want to do. :/ Have a great week. Tammy

(sorry double post, deleted the previous!)
Halle I love your chime and I’d love to use it as an example in a post I’m writing about how to make your own bottle cap wind chime… Would that be alright with you?
