I’ve been having trouble feeling the love for my door journal. I think it has to do with the binding…specifically the tightness of it. A few of the pages don’t turn very well…in fact, I may remove them.
While returning some library books last week, I spotted this one on the free shelf. It’s a nice system…they have a little cash box there for a goodwill donation. You can even place books you want to be rid of there. The money goes back into the library system. I hope when the new library opens they continue that shelf. But I digress.
I picked this book since it is quite a bit bigger than my current art journal book as you can see. The spine is very flexible and I believe it will stand up well to oodles of paint.
I like to leave the plastic covers on these books until I’m done. It just protects them a little better. Then I’ll do something with the covers. So many options including covering with fabric, paint or papers. We’ll see what strikes me when we get there.
I also prefer a larger book. But I’ve given up on school books that have shiny surfaces. I’m finally learning the best books to alter, too. My first three were great, then I digressed into books I hated to work in. Too many pictures, pages too shiny, etc. I’m so glad you found one that will work for you! And FREE, too.
great book rescue Halle

I’m sure you will do magical things with it…

p.s. it is awful when the pages get too stiff, I am not using gel medium for gluing my pages these days…just lots of gluestick and the pages seem to stay a little bendier for me
