I’m not exactly sure what it is but rick-rack gives me a comforting, nostalgic sort of feel. Almost like an embrace from the past.
After white washing the pages I added a lovely napkin over top then enhanced some of the color with a bit of gelato.
I love how the thin napkin lets the words peek through. Just a hint….not all. I added a Tim Holtz phrase sticker because I can’t seem to make a page without words. At least not very often.
I thought I might be done with the page when I noticed a scrap of paint chip…perfect for a bit of journal writing. I had to document my feeling of nostalgia from the rick-rack.
I am in love with this page. I don’t often say that about my work but this one really makes me happy!!!
Linking up with Art Journal Journey for Hello Springtime once again.
I understand that you’re in love with this page. It is so beautiful!!!
Wow, what stunning pages! You have created so much beauty with the text is showing through, napkin images, fabrics and rick-rack ?. It all looks so amazing together and makes me happy too – I love it! Thanks so much for joining us at Art Journal Journey again! Hugs, J ? x
Rick-rack was a staple trim on handmade dresses I wore when I was a child, so it brings back warm memories for me :) I love your “magic” quote, and how you’ve layered your artistic elements. I have trouble with layering.
It all really looks AMAZING together! A wonderful mix of materials dear Halle! Great to see you linking to Jo’s topic at AJJ again! Much appreciated! Have a great week!
Hug, Susi
I love rick rack, too. It does have a nostalgic feel. It also has so many styles, sizes, and colors. You can’t go wrong with rick rack. I use it all the time on my quiltlets, but I really, really like it on your journal spread. Thanks for sharing it with us at Art Journal Journey and making such a romantic and lovely spread.
This is absolutely beautiful Halle!!!
Gorgeous altered book spread, Halle. You’re right about the thin napkin. It’s just lovely with some words peeking through. I love the inked edges too.
