No art to share…just the fruits of labor.

I’m so thrilled that we are actually getting fresh produce from our crummy potted veggies.

We’ve been using and sharing our fresh herbs for quite some time and enjoying them thoroughly but harvesting fresh veggies (OK, I know technically a tomato is a fruit) just thrill me!

Lately I’m all about the flowers.
Not sure why but they seem to show up in everything I do.
I’ve also noticed that I’m using lots of geometric shapes.
Circles and squares mostly.

This is on a 8×8 deep edge canvas. The edges have torn book pages around them then were washed with the same green as the polka dots on the front.

There are several layers of paint and papers on the background that most likely show much better in real life than the scan. The flower is cut from pages I’ve been tearing from my altered scrapbook.

This canvas has had many different lives.

It started out as a sign for my boy’s room which I never finished after it took an ugly turn.
I set it aside for a very long time.

Deciding to try to give it another life, I painted over his name only to have the texture accentuate the letters instead. Frustrated, I again set it aside.

After a few weeks, I covered the whole thing with sheet music and a couple of other papers then painted blue. Finally the letters were obscured.
Again it was set aside for a long time.

Today it became this.

I guess the lesson for me was to not give up. Eventually the canvas told me what it really wanted to be.

Take the test!

Wasn’t I just saying that I was very protective of my children’s images??!!??

The little one beckons for me to come to her and this is what I find…

I’m a bit frustrated that I’m working on an altered scrapbook of memories but am not comfortable showing my completed pages with the world.
I am quite protective of my children’s images (and my hubby is “off the charts” security wise, so showing pix is out of the question.

AAAGGHHH!!! I love the latest spread I made but if I blurred the photos on a graphics program the post would be completely meaningless.

Sorry, I guess I just needed to vent…or let people know that…yes, I am still working on stuff, along with spending countless hours outside in the heat watching my kiddos play. Ok, I’m whining but with the high temp and humidity it feels like forever!

My cute little yellow pear shaped tomato plants are starting to ripen!

These are actually #’s 4 and 5 off the plant. I was overzealous an ate the first 3 after a quick rinse before documenting my success.

I’m crossing my fingers that the big tomatoes ripen as well. I’ve been having trouble with them turning black on the bottom…not all but some.

The challenge now will be keeping them watered and alive in the 90+ heat.
