I’ve mentioned a time or two about how much I love making miniature terrain as well as how much I love recycling. This project encompasses both.
I spotted a rectangle of grey molded foam on the top of laundry room garbage. Of course, I had to grab it to see what it could become.
I broke and tore chunks off. Glued others on to make higher walls. Left bigger chunks to become rubble for my ruin.
In some spots, I used joint compound to smooth the transitions and cover my additions.
I gave the whole works a paint job to make it a cohesive piece.
I’m very happy with my trash to treasure transformation.
And the original packaging….
held an airsoft pistol.
If you look carefully you might be able to see it in the ruin.
The ruin is positioned in the same orientation as the original foam.
How did I miss your move to this site? LOL Oh well, now I found you and yes, now I have changed your site address on my sidebar. I’m glad you caught that. Glad I found you. :) I want to thank you for your visits too.
WOW what great use of that packing material Halle … you certainly have given it a new creative purpose!
I am never happy throwing those kinds of things away, but since you can’t recycle them…well you knew what to do :)
oxo
You did a fantastic job recycling this foam. I would never have thought to recycle this piece like you did. It takes a special eye to see beyond the norm.
Now I’m off to see what else I’ve missed. Sorry I’ve been off line so much lately.
what a great re-use of styrofoam – that would be fantastic used in a train set
…. one of my kids gave me a bit of trivia about styrofoam: it takes centuries to disintegrate – yikes~!
