On this day 14 years ago…after 33 hours of labor and the heat going out in the my birthing room…I became a mom. Nothing could have prepared me for the instant love I had for our brand new baby boy.
What happened to my little boy who used to read to his stuffed animals every morning. Fast forward 14 years and now I see a young man taller than me, sporting a light blonde mustache and with a deep rumble of a voice.
We celebrated his birthday with family on Sunday before the Super Bowl…or as we are calling it…The Seattle Show. Lame.
I’m having my coffee with my list. I’m trying to gear myself up to go out and get my errands done. It is 1°F right now so at least we are on the positive side of the scale.
What are you doing today?
Happy Birthday to big J. I hope he enjoys his day. If he were here in Wichita, he wouldn’t have school. I was at Sally’s yesterday afternoon when the news came on that all schools in Wichita, public and private were closed today, even before a single flake of snow had fallen. They decided a day of school could be made up, but lost lives could not. Better safe than sorry. Guess they didn’t want to repeat what happened in Atlanta.
Lame is right on the Super Bowl. My friends and I only watched the last quarter and by then the game was truly over. I could have cared less who won, since the Lakers weren’t playing (grin).
What am I doing today? Watching the snow fall. We are supposed to get between 9 and 12 inches by tonight, with more on Wednesday, and even more on Saturday. We’ve picked up where you left off (grin).
Thanks for sharing big J’s birthday with us today. Hope it is fun for him.
Happy Birthday to your son! The years do go by so fast, don’t they?
Today, I am basically sitting inside, looking out at all the white, and doing a little beading.
Happy Happy Birthday to your sweet son (didn’t want to gush over his pic on FB…handsome fellow!)
Where does the time go!
Stay warm and cozy …. brrrr
and Happy Birth Day to you too Mamma ♥

Birthdays are the best celebrations!!
O, that is cold! I am so ready for spring, like most of the rest of the U.S, I think.
You make me want to cry!! I wanted that super bowl win for Peyton SO freakin’ bad. He is my favorite NFL player of all time. Don’t even get me started. **sigh**
Have a wonderful day and stay bundled up and warm!

Happy birthday to your son, Halle. You sound like one proud mama! And I loved your tea photo today – so poignant with the notepad and paper. Happy T-day!
What a beautiful post!
Happy Birthay to your son! And Happy T Day to you! :)
Birthday Wishes to your son. Such an adorable photo. Love your thoughts about the current temps-:) Staying positive I guess is the only way how we can deal with this winter.
Brrrrr….at least with all this English rain we’re experiencing ridiculously mild temps for this time of year. I hope the snow situation isn’t getting you down! Happy birthday to your baby boy *cough*, how sweet the pictures you’ve shown us! I think my day is similar to yours…a list and a an ambition to achieve something!
Wishing your son a happy birthday. I laughed at your title “Seattle Show”. I didn’t have a favorite in the game and thought it was pretty boring. Hope you got everything on your list taken care of. Happy T Day!

i hope your son had a great birthday! i laughed at your super bowl comment, which is more than we did during the game. what a stunner. quite embarrassing.
Ah, our temperatures are at the other end of the scale. You are so blessed to be a mother – something that didn’t happen for me. They grow up quick, don’t they?
oh my dear, what an adorable photo of the blonde toddler ‘reading’! it goes by fast doesn’t it!?
