Lets start with the collage since this is an art blog after all. I decided to attack my scrap pile and make a few mini collage pieces as card backgrounds. It’s been a long time since I made any cards. It was really fun…why did I put it off so long.
I even got out my sewing machine to add a bit of stitching to a few places. I decided to leave all but one of the cards without any sort of greeting or sentiment right now. That way I can add whatever I want when the time comes to fit the personality and appropriate greeting for the recipient.
As expected I missed last weeks edition of T stands for Tuesday. We were on the road bringing J to college. We were up before the crack of dawn to get on the road.
My baby bulldog’s new home.
Shockingly we traveled lighter than some for move in day. We’ve started a bag of stuff to bring on parent weekend in October.
*note the waterbottle in accordance with T stands for Tuesday guidelines*
Then this happened the day after we dropped him off at school.
Today was his first day of classes. He bought his books, made it to all classes and sent me a nice selfie to add to my first day of school photos. It’s a good day. For me I had my first half day back to work. Another half day this week then back full time the following Tuesday. I was super excited when on the third attempt I remembered my locker combo. HA!
We are settling into our new normal. Soon I’ll have my sewing machine set up in the unoccupied bedroom. I have several projects I’ve been thinking about and just some repairs that need attention.
I have a ton more stuff to talk about but we have a big storm rolling in and I’m thinking I may have to shut this computer down for a while. I’ll save it for another post.
The question is, how did you manage on that day Halle? I remember taking my daughter school, only 35 minutes away, and I cried the whole way home. I bet making those cards was a good way not only to be creative but to deal with the one less person home. Have a happy T day. Hugs-erika
He’s over 3hrs away. I didn’t cry then or since. I only cried a couple days before when I was angry with him….it wasn’t how I wanted the last of our time to be.
what an exciting new chapter in your and your son’s life. I wish you all the best for a wonderful year! Your cards are beautiful- great compositions and clever to leave blank to allow for the appropriate sentiment when the occasion arises. Happy T day!
Lovely collages. Glad your son has settled into his new dorm. A friend of mine has been moving her son to his new home in Maastricht for his studies. It’s a lot of work! Have a happy T Day, Valerie
your collaged cards are awesome – and i´m sure your family will settle soon into the new situation. wishing all of you happy days:)
A new phase in your life. I bet it was hard to let him go.
He travels light certainly. I spy very few clothes, a favorite pillow, and an intriguing machine called the Playmate Elite. I had to google that of course and I found out it is a fridge (or is it a cool box?) A ‘Nivera’ in Spanish can be either.
Your collage cards are fun. I like the one with the shorthand as it has my initial on it.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
Good morning, I loved all of your cards-it feels so good to have an art day doesn’t it.
Best wishes to your child’s college years and you as well adjusting
Happy T
Your cards are wonderful and a great way to use up papers, I like the idea of adding the sentimnets later to suit the recipient too! Thanks for the inspiration ?. I was thinking of you and wondering if you would be moving J to collage, glad you are doing ok and that you got him all settled! I bet he was excited and his new accommodation looks awesome ?. Sounds fun being back at school and wishing you a Happy T Day! J ? x
Your cards are fabulous. Just another example of GREAT art, something I can’t seem to do. In fact, I didn’t even take a single photo of J’s card, I was in such a hurry to get it out in time.
That doesn’t look like too much stuff when you consider what some teens take to college. And a personal drink cup is always a good thing, too. And of course, it’s perfect for sharing with us for T this Tuesday.
Have fun heading back to school yourself, too. BTW, it won’t be long till you and E are empty nesters.
So much collage goodness.. I LOVE collage but like you i don’t do it often enough and i get reminded everytime just how much i like it..lol Happy happy T day! Hugs! deg
Lovely post, Halle. Your card base idea is fabulous – de-stash the scraps and have card bases ready for any occasion. I love the ones you made.
The plates picture – awww. It takes a while to find your new normal ;-)
Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
I love how perfect those collages are for cards. And you’re right -leaving them blank will let you be more flexible when you need a card.
Best wishes to the new college student! Happy T Tuesday :)
I can’t imagine that it is easy to see your children go off to college. I cry just thinking about it. I know that it seems far off but will be here in the blink of an eye.
I love using scraps for collaged backgrounds. Looks like you are putting then to good use. Beautiful.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
I love what you made with scraps! Glad the trip to get installed at college went OK! Have a good week!Happy T day! Chrisx
Our son went to Uni two hours drive away and I cried all the way home when we left him there for the first time.
I used to cry when they went home after a visit here too, Now I cry when I leave the GSs!
I love the cards you’ve made with your scraps that’s what I’ve been trying to do too.
Happy T day. jan x
Lovely collage cards, its good to have some free to add the right sentiment later.
Pleased to read you got your son settled in, its hard when one leaves the family nest.
Have a happy T day Jan.
Yvonne xx
Sorry Halle I don’t now why I added Jan’s name to the comment. Its been a long day would be my only excuse.
