It’s been a weird week…or two weeks. I missed T stands for Tuesday last week. It just wasn’t in the cards to get something posted or even attempt to make the rounds to my fellow Tuesday bloggers…or anywhere else for that matter. So moving on…
The next weirdness was the crazy weekend blizzard the weather folks were hyping up. Well there weren’t wrong!! We got 16.2 inches of snow here.
And guess what…school went on here as scheduled Monday.
As I walked in the building this is what I saw to my right.
Here’s the drift that reached the roof that was to my left as I walked into the building! Crazy! We have more snow in the forecast for Wednesday. UGH! But then 60°F by the weekend. So weird. Mother Nature has lost her mind!!
Ok…I know you are tired of hearing me complain so on with the creativity.
Last week I sat down with an idea in mind. Creating a scrappy, handmade, hand bound journal. After creating my signatures I needed to come up with a sturdy yet pretty way to bind this journal.
This was my idea. It’s very fine plastic canvas…like needle point size grid. I used a Japanese screw punch to make the holes to stitch my signatures through then glued it to the lace panel with E6000.
I don’t think I exactly follow the hand binding rules but…don’t care..it’s the way that works for me. I’ve been doing it this same way for over 11 years!
I decided to use this book cover, covering the inside with scrapbook paper before gluing the lace bound signatures down.
I’m pleased with this little book. I’m planning to use it for random thoughts and quotes along the way.
Last weekend…or I guess that would be the previous weekend when we could actually leave the house…Mini-me and I treated ourselves to coffee.
These Minnesota-isms just don”t seem to get old especially when we have feet of snow on the ground.
I can’t believe all that snow, although I saw some of it on the news last week. Mother Nature, as Theresa said, was off her meds. It’s certainly been a year/winter to discuss, that’s for sure.
I was most impressed with this new altered book/journal. I look forward to seeing you fill it full of lovely quotes, quips, and a few fun things.
Of course, I was MOST impressed with your coffees. Those coffee sleeves are certainly worthy of saving and using in mixed media art. You and your fellow Minnesotans have a great sense of humor, and know how to laugh at snow! Thanks for sharing these with us for T this Tuesday and wish Mini-me luck at contest.
Oh my, you really got a lot of snow. Hope the crazy weather will soon be over! Love how you made the book, it’s really a beauty. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
good idea to stay inside love the old fashioned journal
i love all These elements in your Journal (shorthand, oh my, memories…), it will be a treasure! and i do not envy you for this snow… would be time to get some warmth…
happy t-day!
Wow, I’m amazed at the snow your had and those snow drifts – brrrr ?. The weather has been very strange over the last month or so, hasn’t it! The little book you created is so beautiful and perfect to add your thoughts and quotes too! I’m loving those sayings on your coffee cups too …lol ?. Thanks for the smiles and wishing you a very Happy T Day! J ? x
OMG- that is just not right!! I would have cried waking up to that much snow. And i can’t believe schools weren’t closed for that. Nice looking journal and clever use of the plastic canvas to reinforce the spine. Fun coffee cups! Happy T day!
All that snow this late in the year… i agree.. CRAZY! But i guess late snows do happen.. thank goodness not very often.. I just love your little scrappy journal … I have no idea how to put one together so your idea looks good to me! :) I love to collage too. Happy T day Halle!! Hugs! deb
Oh my, those snow drifts don’t look at all good, it must have been very difficult getting out in the deep snow.
Your book looks beautiful with the cover you made and I’m sure you will enjoy using it.
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
Wow! That is a lot of snow! It’s crazy weather! I have visited Minnesota twice and both times in the summer and that was cold enough! I smiled at the Minnesota-isms on the coffee cups.
Your altered book/journal has turned out really well. I know you only used the cover, but I spotted a piece of the shorthand pages.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
16.2 inches?! Mother Nature _has_ lost her mind!
I love your lacy binding. Staying with what works can’t go wrong :) Happy T Tuesday
That is a lot of snow! And that snow drift is crazy high.
Thank you for sharing how you made your book binding. I love the inside pages. looking forward to seeing the completed journal if you decided to share it.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Our winter is dragging on too, but nothing like that much snow.I hope it melts for you soon! Hope it was a happy T day. Hugs-Erika
Uff da – all that snow! I can’t believe the schools didn’t close. I wonder what the absentee rate was.
I don’t know anything about book binding, but I love your way, Halle. The lace looks so pretty on the inside cover. You’ve created a bunch of great backgrounds too. I look forward to seeing how you journal on them.
Good luck to Mini-me in her concert/contest!
Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
