I snapped a photo at dark:30 of my morning coffee spot.
The coffee is gone and I’ve moved on to tea. This polar vortex is the pits. It feels like January outside…heck, in the house too. Cold seeping in everywhere. It’s going to be a L…O…N…G winter if this keeps up.
The cold temps have me thinking about knitting. Not just thinking…doing.After some experimentation with my own pattern and a you tube video on stretchy binding off…I completed these boot cuffs. I know they fit a tweener size girl but I am waiting on a friend who has average size calves to see if they fits her. Too tight on me to be comfortable but I have those wonderful large Norwegian calves made for trudging through the snow along the fjords.
So I mentioned that I did some experimentation. I found out two ways not to make boot cuffs. But I made use of them anyway. Two new American Girl hats ready to hit my etsy store just in time for Christmas shopping.
Today is a stay-home day…lots on the list…likely a bit of knitting too.
What are you doing today?
LOL… I love your spirit, not beaten just use your noggin and think outside the box! Hope it isn’t too cold and you manage to sit by a fire and knit and drink hot drinks until it is over! Happy T on Tuesday!
Brrr you all have been really hit.
no snow here but we are experiencing what they are calling a “polar plunge” hah!
Your o’dark photo is magical and looks so warm and inviting…
hot drinks are great and those boot cuffs are a super idea too…
if anyone can figure it out YOU can Halle ♥
Happy T Day and stay warm!

Hello and Happy T day! I feel the same way as you, instead of pjs on at 7:00 mine have been coming on earlier, like 6:00. Feels like bedtime at 7:30 most nights, YUCK! Wish the fall weather would last longer instead of winter.
Love these cuffs and hats, good weather for knitting both to keep busy with and warm with. Enjoy your day and stay warm.
I’m feeling lucky this morning, since it’s now 22 degrees F, up from 6 F earlier. I can relate to a cold room and house. I tried to take some photos yesterday and my hands were so cold and numb they shook. You can’t get decent photos when your hands (and body) are shaking so hard they would show up on the Richter scale.
Clever use of your failed boot cuffs. Leave it to you to find a way to recycle. And those Norwegian calves had me laughing all the way to this post. Loved the dark thirty shot, too.
Thanks for sharing your day at home with us for T this Tuesday.
cute use of the aqua knitting on the dolls!…adorable…had to giggle about your ‘Norwegian calves’ — you are too funny! Have you ever tried making those wrist-warmer thingies? my hands are always cold and I wondered if they would actually help keep your hands warm, of if they’re just for ‘looks’ … good luck staying warm dear. happy T day!
I am feeling your COLD pain here too-it is WAY tooo cold for November-yuck! Darling American girl hats, and I love the way your boot cuffs turned out. Wishing you a happy T day!
Nothing like a hot coffee or tea and some knitting to warm up! Great use for your not so perfect boot cuffs!
Two wonderful ways to NOT make boot cuffs. LOVE that! And the fact that you found a way to make use of them. Stay warm!!! 65 degrees here in central CA. Chilly in the mornings but nothing compared to you. Hugs! deb
Ya, it already feels like January! Love those doll hats. I was never able to knit anything to correct sizes, so I stuck to blankets and scarves and dishcloths–LOL! Haven’t knit for so long I can’t remember. Perfect weather for it. Happy T-Day! :)
def the season of knitting!
thanks for visiting and sharing your experiments!
Your cup looks cozy :) We’ve been having unseasonably cold weather here, and that American Girl cap looks like something I’d be trying to fit into. Brrrrr! But American Girl brings back warm memories from when my daughter was little. She loved her Molly.
Hi there! That photo of your morning cuppa is WONDERFUL! Happy Belatec T Day. :)
* belated :)
