The beginning of this long Memorial Day weekend was filled with activity. Outdoors was where it was at. Mowing, garden planted, attending a graduation party, grilling, bonfire, morning “campfire breakfast” with the neighbors just to name a few. It was amazing.
Obviously this was before planting. I didn’t get any photos of the after…not sure why but must have slipped my mind.
This is today…nothing much to see. I feel for all the Memorial Day remembrances and ceremonies that are either extremely soggy or had to be cancelled. Can’t change the weather though.
Today our pursuits are of the indoor variety. I put together this this gift for another rock loving gal.
Mini-me is working on a children’s book assignment for her AP Biology class. They each had to pick a topic from the year to base their book upon. She chose ecosystems. The penguin will be explaining ecosystems to the leopard seal. I love out of the box projects such as this. Of course, it would have been a nightmare for my left-brained boy but it plays quite nicely into my creative girls strength.
I have been working away at my blog a bit. Getting caught up on some things. Leafing through the pages of ideas I’ve written over the past month or so in preparation for summer vacation.
I am old school when it comes to brainstorming. Pencil and paper are the way to go for me. I know there are all kinds of mind-map programs and other digital forms that people utilize, I’ve even tried a few myself but I always go back to the pencil paper method.
We had hot and sunny weather here, so all Memorial Day observances went as planned. I feel for those whose plans were ruined by rain. The ecosystem project looks interesting. The best brainstorming and creative imaging and idea encouragement system is the one that works :) To each her own :)
Too bad about the Monday weather, but I’m glad the rest of the weekend was good, Halle. Our weather is in the 90s and has been very dry but the humidity is rising so our rains should come soon.
I have some Apache tears a friend gave me. her father acquired them in the 1940s in Wyoming or North Dakota. Your display bottles are very cool. My friend just might receive her dad’s stones back in a pretty way to display and view them.
Happy T-day! Eileen xx
Sounds like you enjoyed lots of fun activities until the rain came. This is MY picture all last week. Constant, relentless rain. Today is muggy and HOT. I actually pulled weeds, trimmed bushes, removed seedlings that didn’t belong in the flower bed, and planted a few bulbs that I should have planted about two weeks ago. Had to shower before I sat down to share T, though. Some things you just can’t put off!
I like your old school way of making notes. I use the computer for a lot of that because it’s hard for me to write and have anyone, myself included, read it. Great photo with the iced tea, too.
LOVED those rocks. I hope the recipient is happy. Thanks for sharing your weekend with us, including your notes and tea with us for T this almost Tuesday. Hope you don’t have to backstroke to work tomorrow!
Some interesting looking projects going on. Would love to see your plants once they start growing.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Sounds like a really nice long weekend for you. we had rain here as well off and on.
a neat project for your daughter. Loved the rocks in the bottles!
I am a paper and pencil gal too-Happy T Kathy
I am an on paper planner too. I even keep a paper calendar too to backup my phone. I love that AP biology project. And I love your daughter’s take on it. Sounds like you had a good long weekend. Have a happy T day. Erika
I agree with you about brainstorming with paper and pencil, it woudn’t work for me any other way. Mini Me’s project sounds good. The bottled rocks are great! Happy T Day, Valerie
mini-you seems to have a good time at school! great she can bring in her creativity.
oh well, i´m old fashioned too when it comes to make notes…
happy week, halle!!
your plants are looking great. I decided to try one tomato plant in a pot to see what happens. All the other veggies are being planted in the neighbors large garden we share:) And I’m with you that paper and pencil are the way to go. Happy T day!
I’ve just written a comment but it has disappeared! So you might just get two comments.
I love those obsidian pebbles. And I went to your previous blog and read all about the Apache Tears. So interesting. The shape is interesting to me as I only know obsidian as sharp edged glass shapes. Your friend will be pleased.
Your plants are looking great. This is the time to plant them and already they have had a good douching of rain.
I’m like you, I have to write things down. It’s my age I’m sure.
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
Wow, you’ve got your garden ship shape and those little seedlings look fabulous, I can’t wait to see how they grow ?. Such thoughtful gifts and the penguin looks fabulous on his washi tape ice! Glad you had a great long weekend over Memorial Day and wishing you a very happy T Day! Jo x
Your plants looked really healthy, it sounds like you were busy in your garden before it rained.
I have to note things down as well, nothing can beat the old methods, my family use the computer to record their lists etc.
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
Wow! What a lot of plants! I see you have rain, too. I am trying to finish commenting before our storm comes tonight. We can hear the thunder, and there are tornado warnings all around us, not here yet. Eek! Happy Day!
I’m sorry you had rain on Memorial Day. Besides BBQs, parades get cancelled too. Your garden plants looks wonderful. I like those glass bottles holding the rocks. Happy T-Day!
OOh those little plants are awesome Halle !! I think you´ll have a lot of work in the garden, but I´m sure they´ll grow up quickly after the rains and the storms. Your penguin is so sweet, beautiful artwork, and amazing apache tears into a gorgeous bottle. Happy belated T-day ! (sorry I´m late visiting)
I ´ve seen your posts before this one, and they are all great !! Wonderful embellishments, and cards, and wonderful art pages too.
I wish you a very nice afternoon,
Big hugs, Caty
I love all those plants – I hope they didn’t get too soggy with that rain! The book cover looks great and what an interesting topic! Yes I still write lists – and plan projects on paper! Belated Happy T Day! Chrisx
