Today for T stands for Tuesday I’m sharing the first installment of the adventure Mini-me and I headed went on to recreate the Digital Photography field trip she missed while on her French field trip. Poor communication between teachers I guess.
We followed in the foot steps of her class and went to the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory in our state capital city of St. Paul.
The Conservatory is a beautiful structure with the iconic glass dome and several glass wings jutting out from the center.
I knew the structure was old but didn’t realize that it was over 100 years old until I noticed this sign.
While Mini-me was working her photography skills on the flora and fauna displayed, I was marveling at the architecture and unique features of the building.
Its amazing to me how glass and steel can be a work of art in itself.
In a separate wing of the conservatory was a Bonsai pavilion. These were my favorites.
Since this wing was dedicated to Japanese culture and tradition it was only fitting I share a bit of the traditional tea ceremony pieces on display here for T stands for Tuesday.
The pottery was simple yet beautiful.
More next time for T Tuesday…
What are you doing today?
Hi Halle!
What pretty pictures you posted today! I really REALLY love that star. I have one like that hanging in my bedroom.. albeit much MUCH smaller lol Happy T day! Hugs! deb
Incredible photos. What did I miss about a French field trip? At least you and mini me had some quality time together. I agree that glass and steel are true art forms.
That first bonsai was out of this world. I have seen bonsais before but never one where the flowers were so disproportionate in size to the plant. I can see why you were drawn to some of these.
There is something very smooth and soothing to that Japanese pottery. Strangely enjoyable, too. Thanks for sharing your photos and the tea items with us for T this Tuesday.
That’s a lovely place you visited, those glass constructions are always worth seeing. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
Cool photos Halle. I think you have a fun little project with your daughter. Best for you is that you get to spend time with her. :) Have a great T day. hugs-Erika
Amazing photos! It looks like you had a wonderful time with Mini Me ?. I love architecture too, and you captured the glass and steel beautifully ?. Those bonsai trees are stunning, aren’t they! Wishing you a very Happy T Day! J ? x
How nice of you to recreate the field trip-I bet there was more fun too. Lovely building-I am always amazed how much more beautiful the older structures are. the craftsman cared more back then I think.
I loved the bonsai and the Japanese tea
very nice Happy T Day Kathy
When I visited Minneapolis many years ago, my friend took The Young One and I to the MN Zoo. We didn’t have enough time to do the Como Zoo. Or the art museum where the big spoon with a cherry is? Next time. The glass and steel building is amazing. Oh, and I didn’t know there were flowering varieties of Bonsai trees. So pretty. Have a Happy T Day
What a fabulous place to visit! I love your photos from different aspects! Happy T day! Chrisx
What a thoughtful and great idea, to help mini-me recreate the missed photography field trip! I bet it was even more special because of that. Lovely photos, Halle.
Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
Lovely photos and you must have had a super time together on the trip taking photos. It looks a wonderful place to visit.
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
What an amazing conservatory! I have just been reading about (Pearshaped)Chris’ visit to Kew Gardens where they have a similar building. Like you I am fascinated by the structure and the beauty of it. Clever construction too in an era when they did not have computers to calculate all the angles and arches.
The Bonzai are beautiful. My brother-in-law does bonzai and he tells explained a lot about them. I definitely like that elm.
Thank you for sharing that.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
Oh how fun!I love Bonsai’s and Tea. I bet that display was amazing. Wishing you had more pictures I could drool over.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
We don’t have a conservatory nearly that large near us. What a wonderful place to visit. I missed out on T Tuesday this week, but I’m enjoying your bonsai and Japanese ceremony pieces today :)
Happy birthday, dear friend. As usual, your gift is NOT in the mail.
Hi Halle! Just noticed that Elizabeth posted it’s your birthday today – happy birthday! Hope you have a delightful day, Lovely pics – especially in awe of the flowering Bansai!
