Last week I left off with the conservatory portion of our day trip to recreate the missed field trip. Next to the conservatory is a zoo. Como Zoo.
As children, both Mr. G and I visited this zoo with our parents….rode the giant tortoise, looked at the gorillas behind the bars and saw Sparky the Seal perform. Things have changed for the better over the years. The habitats are continually being improved. Mini-me has even witnessed change in her years. When we got there we saw that both the seal and polar bear habitats were changed or changing. Good news for those critters.
The big cats are a favorite of mine…
Watching this big guy walk was like seeing a giant version of Marvin. He saunters when he walks.
The lions were thoroughly enjoying the sunshine.
And who could blame them when just off to the side was the remains of our snow.
It is Minnesota after all.
I have one more part of our adventure to share with you next week.
Since this is T stands for Tuesday I had to share my birthday present to myself. I picked it up at Caribou (the best coffee place in my opinion…no affiliation, just a very smitten customer) while getting my free birthday drink.
This weekend also brought prom for J. He went with a bunch of friends and had a wonderful time. I once again wish I could show you my favorite candid shot from pre-prom pictures. It captured his personality perfectly….but I respect their right to privacy even now that he is an adult.
School is winding down…yet so many things that need to be done.
What are you doing today?
Good morning, I really enjoyed the photos of the zoo. I agree zoos are getting much better with better enviroments for the animals and also many are into conservation and breeding which is good.
I Love your cup-awesome. I do not share photos of people either and try not to share personal locations etc either
Happy T Day and enjoy your day Hugs Kathy
I loved visiting the zoo with you and it’s amazing how much they have changed for the better over the years – wonderful ?. Wow, those big cats are so beautiful I think I could have stopped and watched them all day! Glad you had a birthday treat at Caribou and wishing you a very Happy T Day too! J ? x
What a great post at the zoo. Yes, zoos seem to have gotten more compassionate, provide better habitats, and more caring keepers. Those cats are adorable. But of course, I would LOVE to see Marvin saunter, too.
I always ask people if I can take their photos on my blog. Some don’t want their photos shown on the internet and I respect that, just like you do. So glad J had a good time at prom. Whatever happened to third grade (grin)?
WOW, I love the Caribou mug you got for yourself, when you got your birthday drink. We don’t have Caribou coffee here, and I am SURE Starbucks would never make the same offer. Thanks for sharing your zoo photos and your coffee mug with us for T this Tuesday, and again, I hope your birthday was the best ever!
Zoos are much improved since my grandparents’ and parents’ days and during my lifetime. So many changes are still needed; and I believe elephants, for example, need too much space to be confined in zoos. But still, it’s good to recognize the efforts conservationists are making. Happy T Tuesday!
Wonderful photos of the big cats, they seem happy in the habitat the zoo created for them.
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
I agree that zoos have improved. Looks like a nice visit. I do wonder how that lion liked the left over snow pile. In fact, I wonder how lions like snow, though I don’t think they would wilt around it. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika
All the cats look so friendly and harmless. But the polar bear is beautiful! Looks like a wonderful place to visit.Your Photography skills are wonderful.
And I love the mug!
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
I’ve always had a love hate relationship with zoos Halle…I think of them as a necessary evil. I’m very glad to hear that the habitats have improved over the years though. Gorgeous shots of the animals. Happy T day!Hugs!deb
Those are great photos of the animals. I haven’t been to a zoo in donkey’s years. In the UK (as in the States) there have been many changes for the better. But I hate to think what zoos in Spain are like. I suppose I’d have to go to one to find out…
Wishing you a good week,
A belated happy T-Day,
Lisca
I’m enjoying the posts about your DIY field trip, Halle. Such a great and thoughtful idea. Great shots of the big cats. The zoo looks very nice and comfy for the animals. Yes, how things have changed. Some for the better, thank goodness.
Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
