Today’s post comes to you Ely, MN. It’s so far North that it’s nearly Canada.
Mini-me and I are on a girls trip. I had seeing Split Rock Lighthouse on my summer bucket list. A couple times in the past Mr. G and I have been within 10 miles of it but never went.
Just an FYI… I’m writing this post on my phone so I honestly have no idea how it’s going to turn out.
After touring the grounds and hiking down to capture the iconic image of the lighthouse from lake level, we began the second leg of the journey to Ely, MN.
Mini-me found an adorable cabin for rent that happened to be on super sale since this was last minute booking. Sometimes it pays to not plan ahead. Since we are still living in it until tomorrow, I’m not going to post any pictures at the moment.
We went out for a couple hikes today. The first was shorter but by far the best.
The second trail turned out to be pretty much the same sort of thing we have at home. Paved and boring.
Dinner was by campfire.
And, of course, the classic s’more for dessert.
More to come after we get home and get photos off the DSLR camera.
Great job doing this on your phone. What a wonderful trip. A wonderful trip and I would love that hotdog with chips. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day today.
What a fun trip! I appreciate your photos, which make for almost a being-there virtual vacation for me :)
Happy T Tuesday
Oh Gooodness Halle! You really have been through some traumatic times. I hope your results are as you expect.
Your garden looks as though it’s still doing very nicely.
The view around the lighthouse look spectacular and I shall look forward to seeing more.
Camp fire food always looks tasty – simple pleasures!!!
You two must be having such good time.
Happy T day, Chrisx

How nice you had your girls only trip. That is a charming looking light house. And that trail looks challenging, but fun. Of course, you made me hungry with your food.
Sorry we missed you last week for the 10th anniversary. Thanks for sharing your trip with us for T this Tuesday, dear friend.

You did an excellent job writing this post on your phone Halle. Wow, I can see why you wanted to visit this lighthouse. It looks amazing. And so does that first trail. And I love your idea of a campfire dinner. It would be mine too. Enjoy your girl trip and happy T day too. Hugs-Erika (Oh and happy start to August too.)
Beautiful pictures. And the S’mores are perfect. Have fun with your daughter and Happy T Day
