T Tuesday: typical Tuesday edition

It’s just a typical Tuesday at my house. I had a brisk morning walk…52°F. It was refreshing but I’m not going to lie…I wished I had worn long sleeves.

Next it’s time for a bit of coffee and list writing. Lists help me stay focused. Trust me…I was WAY off task this weekend and Monday. Mr. G took yesterday off so typically I take that “time off” as well. I don’t create lists and sort of go with the flow. Not always the best choice for me.

Good news though…last week I was very productive.

I replanted green beans, snap peas and zucchini.

They have all sprouted! Hopefully I’ll get some good production before our first frost.

My tomatoes are ripening. My squash lost the battle with pests…squash borers got to them…but now I know what to look for.

Marvin was busy watching the birds while I was snapping a few photos.

My tiger lilies are in full bloom and the deer have left them alone!

Perhaps its the new guard bear my neighbor painted and gave to Mini-me. That or the bar of Irish Spring soap I have hanging from the cage around the lilies. I heard that deer don’t like the smell of clean people. :)

I’ve started working in a new journal. I’m not loving this book as I’m afraid that its not well made enough to withstand the abuse that I put my art journals and altered books through.

It was the only one I had laying around at the moment. Since I’m not thrifting at all, it will have to do.

I thought it was funny that it had traveled half way across the country into my hands just for me to destroy alter it.

I’ve completed 4 spreads so far. This is a snippet of a page. I’m having a lot of fun playing with texture.

The T Tuesday post from last week had another one of the spreads. I’ll share more in another post. I’ve already rattled on too long for today.

What are you doing today?

When my hubby has off I do the same as you(even though I don’t work;) Your garden veggies and flowers look so healthy and lush!
As for your altered book you can always tear out a page after every few so the book doesn’t become to thick from the altering, and also you can put a coat of gesso(white, black or clear) on the pages to strengthen them. Loving that peak of your texture. Happy T day!

Is that a Reader’s Digest condensed book? If so, they aren’t sewn. But if it’s sewn, it will at least not fall completely apart. I suggest reinforcing the front and back pages with duct tape, if you haven’t already. That will help. It looks like your sneak peek has us all anxious to see more.

I loved your photos and the one of Marvin is priceless. He’s such a cutie.

I used to write lists to stay organized. One day I began with “write list.” That was the day I quit making them. Now I wrote a list if I’m working on a project, but nothing in real day to day life.

Thanks for sharing your latest veggies you planted, your altered book, your lovely photos, and your coffee with us for T this Tuesday, dear friend.

Your garden looks great. Teddy said to tell you to tell Mini-me that he loves that bear she received. Yes, I can confirm, Irish Spring soap bars, hung in small chunks by one’s flowers, keeps the deer away. (I had forgotten about that. I did that many years ago.) It makes them think people are very close by, so they stay away. I love the pattern on your mug, and the flowering basket on your deck. Happy T-Day!

Your garden is looking terrific, Halle. I hope the Irish Spring soap works. I’d never heard that.

I look forward to seeing more of your altered book pages.

Happy T-day and have a lovely week! Hugs, Eileen

I need to make a list. I went for a walk this morning, too. It was just perfect out! Although I think that is the end of nice days, supposed to get hot again. I wanted to say I love your tiger lilies! Happy T Day!

Your tiger lilies are beautiful ~ I’ll have to tell my friend about the soap and see if she wants to try it too. I hope you have better luck with your tomatoes then I’ve had this year ~ Too much sun so the skin is tough and now they’re splitting from so much rain ~ Oh well! ~ Enjoy your week!

I wonder if the soap trick would work for rabbits. I don’t want to hurt them just make them stop eating the hosta shoots before they flower. All your flowers look very healthy.

Yes, I’m a list person too. If I make a list in the morning things get done. Perhaps not everything, but something gets done. I’m afraid with blog comments to do my lists stays quite long as I love sitting at my computer and chatting to you guys and reading what you have all been up to.
Well done you for planting all that stuff. I hope the frosts are late this year and you will be successful.
Your garden really looks great! And it was good to see a glimpse of Marvin. Give him a cuddle from me.
    Happy (belated) T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

You have such a well-planned and well-tended garden :) I love the tiger lily, which reminds me of my backyard growing up.
