As you may have noticed on my sidebar, I’ve been displaying a couple of badges with summer dates. Well, the time has arrived!

small2015photohuntRinda at Gallo Organico is hosting her Summer Photo scavenger hunt once again. I had a great time with this last summer and have been anxiously awaiting the list for this year. Rinda posted it just a few hours ago…looks like a fun list!! Some easy and some hard.

SOC5-2The second challenge is The Summer of Color 5 hosted by Kristin at twinkletwinklelikeastar

This will be my 3rd year participating in this great summer challenge.

Each week for 6 weeks she’ll be giving us colors to create with. Any medium is acceptable. The sky’s the limit with this one. It’s so much fun and sometimes can really stretch you creatively when the colors don’t match up with your usual style.

Won’t you join me in these fun and exciting challenges?

I’m trying my hand at Journal 52 this week since I was using magazine images in my coffee theme book. coffee collage crazy

I pulled out elements that fit my theme then went for some scrapbook paper for the background. Not my usual way of starting out but I’ve got to use up some of that paper!!

The paper I used is actually for a little boy page. The upper left of the 12×12 piece said Catch me…  Since I already had the word coffee… cut out it seemed to fit perfectly.

Across the top I layered on a coffee bean image from an ad and part of a bookmark. It still needed something so I sponged some gesso through a letter stencil. I then dipped my double circle tool, which happens to be from the center of a transparent tape roll, in gesso because who doesn’t love circles!

I used a Pitt pen to go around the coffee cup image for depth. I still felt it needed a bit more of the red so I grabbed some stickers from Starbucks (thanks Elizabeth) for the right touch of color. I  happened upon these play money coins and thought they’d be perfect final touch.

There is a chill in the air again after a gorgeous day yesterday. Wishing for another day influenced my journal page.blooms

Random bits of this and that make up this page. I attempted to use some ancient rub-ons for background interest. A few bees were the most successful. Lesson learned with rub-ons. Use them when you get them…don’t hang on to them for years and years then expect them to still work.

The quote is from a vellum sheet I had laying around. I’m working on using up some of my orphan bits and pieces. An art journal is the perfect place!

Linking up with Art Journal Journey once again. I can’t say this is a favorite quote but it is a good one.

Art Journal Journey

I just went for it with this page.playful page

playful page quoteI didn’t think. I didn’t plan. I didn’t even put my apron on…which is a bummer because now I have orange paint on my pants. Did I mention I’m a messy painter?

The other day while walking OUT of the bank…which was the last stop of my errands…I discovered that I had a clump of gel medium or maybe mod podge gluing part of my bangs together.

Nice. So classy. Made me think of the “hair gel” scene from Something about Mary…  Perhaps I need to make a sign to hang on the door…”Look in the mirror before leaving the house.”  As you may have guessed I’m not a terribly vain or high maintenance kind of girl.

I’m linking up with Art Journal Journey with this post. My journal page fit their theme!  IT was meant to be!

December complete!
2014 art calendar challengeThis challenge hosted by Kate has been a good one for me.  I was able to stay on track and have ended up with a great keepsake from 2014.

2014 art calendar challenge

From the start, I had the idea in my head of what I wanted the end product to look like.

After taking this photo I decided that perhaps gluing the pages together would give it more visual appeal. 2014 art calendar challenge

And I was right…  In addition, it provided stability to the binding.

I’m in love with how this looks. I don’t want to come off as patting myself on the back but I have to admit that I’m so happy that my vision of this project actually came to fruition. 2014 art calendar challenge

I’m totally on time this month! Even a day early a few might say.

December is ready to go…

All that is left of this challenge is binding the calendar pages into the book I selected. I have a plan in my head…lets just see if it translates to reality in the same way.

I had mentioned a little while ago that I’d be playing along with Rinda at Gallo Organico on her 2014 Summer Photo Scavenger Hunt.

I’ve been out and about with my camera this week…before the deluge of rain. Over 5 inches of rain in 7 hours. And it’s coming down again. JOY.

In a couple separate adventures, no more than 30 minutes from our home, I found several items on the list…

#3 Bird on a wirebird on a wire#7 A rural landscaperural landscape 3 rural landscape 2rural landscape 1#8 A tattoo on a persontattoo #17 a lamppostlamppost#18 a waterfallwaterfall 2 waterfall 1My list so far stands as:

Are you playing along? Would you like to? It’s not too late…just pop over to Rinda’s blog and check out the details
